“The United States “is not in a position to get into a new military conflict,” Mottaki was quoted as saying...”
Dear Mr. Iranian, some of us would not consider it a “NEW”
military conflict, rather a logical continuation of an existing one to the point of origin.
Say Goodnight Mr. Amadinejad...

Stretched too thin for an additional Iraq style occupation is quite different than stretched too thin to attack.

"Unless and until the US is willing to be sufficiently brutal in war, this is our future from every pipsqueak on the planet." Just wait until we have a Democrat as President. It's going to become downright embarrassing to be an American.

Sleeping Giants are not easily awaken, or at least that was hitler's thought. hitler as was Japan surprised, thank goodness. America lived for another day, decade, and beyond and brought forth a nation that visited the moon. All without firing a shot.
Should America have to react to this piece of sub-existance in iran, iran would awake to the moo...out of power. The words from iran's sub-existance is only music to the ears of demonrats in D.C. and their ilk. Most Americans know America can take iran whenever America chooses.

Saddam thought the French would protect him.....he was also wrong.
Someone needs to tell the current Islamic thug, that it takes only a few aircraft - of which we have many — to return Iran to the stone age overnight....
Thanks to Iraq we have learned to not occupy the land of Islamists until the place has been reduced to smoldering rubble.

Actually I tend to agree. In Iraq the second time we forgot the “Powell” doctrine of attacking with an overwhelming force. We tried to do it on the cheap and have not been extremely successful.
If we are going to do it we need to be prepared to get the job done...conventional air war alone is not going to get the job done.

Attacking Iran — bad idea. Sorry to say that the USA amounts to 4.5% of the world population. We cannot be everywhere militarily.
To: Flavius
Actually we could turn Iran into glass without leaving home if we had a leader with the cajones to do it.

I think we are quite capable of destroying the Iranian army. In fact, it should already be a history lesson.
We should have pulled out of the Iraqi cities the day after Saddam was captured, and began building up on the Iranian border. Instead, we gave up the initiative to our enemies and allowed them to dictate the order of battle.
The time to clean up the mess of war is after the war has actually been won, and it ain't been won yet.

I think prior to our involvement in WWII Roosevelt’s administration understood that we could not just leap in and attack Germany or Japan without the world body condemning us as the aggressors. They (The World) needed to see and feel the horror of war. Its the same thing here in our country in that many people bury their head in the sand and have no understanding of world history and the conquering history of all large nations or peoples. (Arabs, Chicoms etc...) They will need to feel the “Barbarians at the Gate” to understand that war is about absolute destruction of your enemy with the least damage to yourself.
We’re watching history repeat itself again.

Also if any other large nation had the same power we possess right now? Can you imagine?
To: live+let_live
I agree. We don’t have the balls to do what we need to do and Iran knows it. That’s why every half a$$ed , 2 bit dictator in the world spits in our faces all the time. The big lion of the USA is chained and can’t move because of liberal mindsets .

We only have to be over their refineries. We all read about the riots at the pumps not long ago.
Iran is fragile at this time in history. The majority of their population is young. A majority of the young want the end of the strict rule of the mullahs. The want much the same as the rest of the young in the world. They want to listen to music, express their individuality and be able to make choices for themselves.
