Phoenix Two helicopters collided in midair and crashed while covering a police pursuit in central Phoenix Friday afternoon, killing at least two people. Both helicopters were news choppers from local television stations.

I agree. The mayor is a clown. While I dispise the driver, the copter pilots were not forced to cover this and should have observed all safety precautions. I don’t like to blame people who’ve just bought the farm, but this is fairly easy one. No winners here...
they had the whole dang sky and they were acting like fools to sell crap footage to more fools
i feel sorry for the loss but what they were doing was irresponsible. what if that stuff landed on someones house.
asses
looky...
Maybe it’s the possibility that a beating by the police will be filmed and they can get a Rodney King-size payday.
oh, thanks....connecting now.
Some ground witness thought the third one would come down too....he said it was that close....
and AZretarded.com has some pilot audio with 3 saying “where are ya”
and 15 saying “I am coming over you”
it is worse is LA when there are 7 or 8 of these media airships, plus 3 law enforcement helicopters.....it sounds like Apocolypse Now for half an hour sometimes.
the suspect’s surrounded in a house by himself, they believe, after ramming more vehicles, after stealing 2 or 3.
public spokesman for the cops said that the chased driver can be held responsible for the chopper crash
I doubt any such sensitivity would be shown to chopper pilots in other professions in similar circumstances.
That was exactly my reaction as well. If it's their friends, privacy must be respected. Anybody else, however, is fair game regardless of whether their friends and family may see it and suffer.
The spokesman is wrong.
BTW, I hope that wasn’t insensitive on this thread. I really am sorry for the families that are having to go through this. I’ve sent up prayers for all of them.
Shep just announced they would be.
Agreed. Just a month ago in my neck of the woods some bright Prince George's County, MD cop decided to chase a speeding motorcycle on the Washington Beltway. The cop wound up clipping a car in front of him, which propelled the car into oncoming traffic and killed three people. The perp got away of course.
The simple reality is that cops love car chases because they find them fun and exciting and the news organizations eat them up because they provide entertaining viewing.
awful.
I dont care what the police spokesman says...I will be shocked if he is convicted on such a charge.
He will get a free top shelf legal defense if they charge him with that.
You are absolutely correct. The spokesman is obviously an idiot.
