e-mail from Fred: "Where we are, and where we're going"
email ^ | July 26, 2007 | Fred Thompson

Posted on 07/26/2007 1:03:09 PM PDT by RobFromGa

In the past few months, I've traveled the country talking and listening to folks. I've been discussing where I see America going, about what we need to do to keep our nation secure, what we must do to keep this remarkable economy growing, and the challenges we must address together for the next generation of Americans.

I believe the United States is at a crossroads, and what I'm hearing on the road is that a lot of people agree with me. They're ready to move forward together to meet our challenges here at home and abroad. They aren't buying into the defeatist talk about our security, our economy, and our future.

During this "testing the waters" effort we've undertaken, I've been saying the political waters feel pretty warm. It's allowed us to start laying the foundation of a good team across the country and to keep up this national conversation we've been having. Now we're going to take that conversation to a different level.

On Tuesday, August 7th, we're inaugurating a new weekly "I'm With Fred" email, complete with news, updates, and photos from the road. We're also working on the ImWithFred website 2.0, in order to keep in touch on a daily basis and to give you more opportunities to join us at events, help us organize, and spread the word about our efforts.

I'm excited about what I'm seeing out on the road. I appreciate everything you're doing for our effort.

Sincerely,

Fred Thompson

“Tell that to Karl Rove.”

You bet Bush is a puppet and Rove is pulling the strings.. or is it Cheney. I better go over to DU and find out for sure.

Whether La Raza even has a “Defender of the Melting Pot” award has been disputed on other threads. What is the source for this? I’ve done some searching, including on La Raza’s own website, and can’t find anything.

Frankly, I am tired of waiting. His wait is starting to hurt him.

Me too...BUT I always remember that the reason that so many of us are hyped up about 2008, with well over fifteen months prior to the election, is due to the MSM.

Have patience. All will be done in good time.

The source was linked in my post: a National Review article by Mark Krikorian (Center for Immigration Studies) from Aug. 2005.

Bush isn't a "puppet" for Rove or Cheney, but they both play a significant role in shaping administration policy. Bush even gave Rove a policy position in the White House.
This was a simple, factual point I was making. Yours was nothing but a strawman.

His announcement, yesterday, of his choice of Spencer Abraham as campaign manager, told us everything we need to know.

I've sent him $150 so far, unfortunately.

The Spencer Abraham appointment puts an end to that.

Fred, you are as dumb as they say you are.

On the bright side, I will save a lot of money not donating to any candidates and especially not the traitorous RNC.

Info (or lack thereof) of the “Defender of the Melting Pot” award.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1871903/posts?page=57#57

Not saying it he didn’t get this award, it is just a mystery that outside the National Review articles (and the thousands of blogs linking to it) I can’t find anything official about this specific award, what it is for, or why people are nominated..

Cheney maybe, but it’s the DU and the rest of the looney left that believe Rove has any signicant effect on policy.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about.

I'm skeptical about these sudden anti-Fred conversions.

There was either no support for Fred here in the first place, or this "supporter" isn't even up to the level of "fair weather friend".

As for your "no support for Fred" theory, why would I start threads about him if I didn't support him? In fact, I was the first one to post about Fred's having his campign site up on the Net. So much for your paranoid theory about never having supported Fred.

As for your other theory about me being a fair-weather friend, you've got it backwards -- Fred has betrayed all of his loyal supporters by hiring an Islamist as his campaign mangager while we're in the middle of a war. He failed us, not the other way around.

And if Abraham's past dealings with and for Islamists against the good of the US doesn't bother you, you are a fair-weather friend to this nation.

I think you are being very Judgmental.

I have been Anti Fred for at least 16 Minutes now, and will go for 20 minute total.

My plan is a firm commitment to my anti Fred position for at least for 20 minutes every day.

Here is what I am working on right now...

Fred is a pro Arab hack member of the CFR who has no business calling himself a conser...

Hold, got a call...

Hmmm anti Fred time is up now...

RUN FRED RUN!

FRED THOMPSON 2008!

OTOH, I’ll stick with the guy who has more than a snowball’s chance in hell at winning the nomination.

Oh, so you are a Paul fan, supporting the only “True Conservative” I see...

Or is that Hunter...

I am so confused...

Fred has said many times he is not going to give us his platform until he officially enters the race, which he will do on his own time,

Read that again slowly a couple of times. Then ask the obvious: why are so many FReepers willing to throw rabid support to someone who won't tell them specifically what he would do if elected? Why are they committing early and passionately to someone who refuses to return the favor?

There's a whole lot of projection of hopes and dreams going on here. I think there are posters here who are more for electing Fred than Fred is.

I am currently arguing with NumbersUSA about their report card on Fred, but the ending of the most recent email is quite interesting:

Looking at the links you sent me, I can see how you reached your conclusion. If it is any consolation, of the potential GOP front runners, Thompson remains has one of the better records on immigration- although his recent hiring of Spencer Abraham is cause for concern.

All the best,

Jeremy

I’m sticking with Hunter.

Who you going to support when Hunter folds his tent?.... 3rd party or back another GOP candidate?

What is Krikorian’s source? The only other place I found mention of it was on Wikipedia, and the source for that was Krikorian’s article. La Raza’s website lists past award winners, and nowhere did I find a “Defender of the Melting Pot Award”. I’d like a credible source, if there is one. Or is Kirkorian having a Dan Rather moment? I just sent an email to La Raza regarding this, so we should know the truth of the matter shortly

Not saying that Abraham is a wise move, but at least he (Abraham) supported a group that A) condemns terrorism B) works with other faiths, including a couple Hebrew organizations. There is a large group that believes there is a moderate Islam... I believe they are incorrect, that it is a false face. But they think that reaching out to these groups may help. ADAMS is the only hits I found so far, but I will continue looking.
