fyi, yesterday afternoon i was on "the Metro", headed into DC & saw two USAF officers in USAAF-style leather jackets WITH "blood chits" painted on the backs. (my later father, a USAAF guy of WW2 would have been PLEASED!)

one noticed me admiring the paintings & said: we aren't supposed to paint our jackets, but we're just back in CONUS & they don't complain about it "over there".

sadly, i must tell you that my dad let me play in his, until it was so tattered that mother threw it away one day, when i wasn't wearing it!

It’s a shame she threw it away. As tattered as it was, you could have framed it, showing the back...and be reminded always of your Dad that way. Not that you aren’t reminded of him anyway.
