A growing number of vegetarians are starting to eat humanely raised meat. Christine Lennon talks to a few converts— including her husband and famed author Mollie Katzen.
To a die-hard meat eater, there's nothing more irritating than a smug vegetarian. I feel at liberty to say this because I am one (a steak lover) and I married the other (a vegetarian with a pulpit). For me, "Do you now, or would you ever, eat meat?" has always been a question on par with "Do you ever want to get married?" and "Do you want children?" The answer to one reveals as much about a person's interior life, and our compatibility, as the response to the others. My husband Andrew's reply to all of those questions when I asked him three years ago was, "No."
Obviously, we're now married. We had twins earlier this year. And somewhere in between those two events, the answer to the third question was also re-evaluated, and the vegetarian soapbox was put to rest, too.
Yes, my husband has started eating meat again after a seven-year hiatus as an ethically motivated and health-conscious vegetarian.

Auh, that would mean they are not vegetarians.
It is rather tasty, too.
Saving the planet and eating what they secretly crave. What a deal.
I would like to offer to the discussion that there is NO biblical justification for being a vegetarian. I have no problem with people who choose to not the best food in the world...I just don’t like to see them claim that it is “biblical.”
Hey, Soldier! How’s it going? Are you in Texas now?
I read this article and laughed at the ethically raised, pasture fed animals and especially at Mariel Hemingway’s remarks, “when I was vegan, I was super-weak. I love animals, and we should not support anything but ethical ranching, but when I eat meat, I feel more grounded. I have more energy.”
I’ve met both types. A few guys from India that ate the most interesting food. It looked and smelled good. It also did not look like typical vegetarian food I see in the store or restaurants. I also worked with a militant vegan. She was completely insane. She would say things like the reason that woman couldn’t get high paying jobs was because men ate red meat.
Good food is good food... I’ll eat it all.
Why would you want to inject something into meat you're going to eat?
Actually I don't know what they use these days, but I always thought a bullet in the head to be cheap, expedient, and for the beef, painless. About as humane you can get at a slaughterhouse.
I’m home in Kentucky, been here since I got back.
Can’t spell Pathetic without P-E-T-A...
I’ve got a pound and a half of ground chuck in the fridge for supper tomorrow. Who will give me their best hamburger recipe? I want to do them on the grill.
Sheesh!
I answered, "Yeah, and I'm damn glad, 'cause I'd sure hate to eat all that hay the hard way....I can get the food value and protein without having to much a couple bails of that stuff".
The sad part of it was that the "veg" was anemic, pale-looking, skinny as a rail and always used up all of her 'sick leave' within the first four months of the year.
Some how the Veg's can live with huge denial and not be phased by it.
I have no gripe with vegetarians. I will respect their beliefs and will not tease them by eating steak in front of them. I just wish the homos would respect my beliefs and not shove their agenda down my and my children’s throat.
Read Daniel 1. (not that I am a follower of this practice... I am a confirmed protein eater)

Marinade?
No need to go to a Steakhouse, no t-shirt required ... a proper ribeye is a proper ribeye (
Yes, that's a quarter in the first pic.
Sorry, forgot the sarcasm tag.
Well yes. But I was thinking more along the lines of something classified as lethal. You wouldn't want that flowing around in the veins of the beef you're gonna throw on the barbie next Saturday.
Would you?
