Breaking: AmTrak Train Passengers Calling CNN for Help

CNN Just interview a passenger who has been on a stranded Amtrak since 9:30 a.m.
More calls are coming in from passengers on the train.
Seems this lady wants off and Amtrak is saying to the passengers they don't know when that will happen.
Rumors are the tracks are washed out at both ends.
Food, water, air, toilets still in good shape.
Just seems to be very frustrated passengers due to lack on info.
So they wanted to reach a live national news show to let them know they are stuck.
The Anchor on CNN said well sounds like they are not in danger or lacking food/toilet so you can't say anything negative about Amtrak.
The other anchor said maybe we should send them all copies of Harry Potter to keep them occupied (sarcastically speaking).

I was in D’Hanis about two hours ago. The train track is indeed washed out and was being worked on. It won’t be a quick fix however. Don’t know why those people are still on the train. Hwy 90 is open so they should have been bused out or the train should have been able to back up. The track behind them is not washed out to my knowledge.

I live a little further southeast than you, and we have had about 60 inches of rain this year so far. We normally have about 36 inches annually.
Killeen (the eastern border of Fort Hood) had 18 inches in a 24 hour period earlier in the summer.

Yeah, maybe they should hastily mobilize a dangerous rescue operation in foul weather when everyone is safe.
Standed 7 whole hours? Sheez! - OMG, call out the guard!

That's got to be pretty scary. I hope they will all be safe! At least they didn't plunge into the creek.

Have you heard any more about the train? We’ve been having a bad storm and it knocked out my satellite system, so I can’t get any news except for here.

"and what are the circumstances that caused the train to be stuck "
I've been on Amtrak trains when heavy rains have caused problems with the track switches and light signals. They've had to stop for long periods to check the tracks and under the cars, or stop until the signals/switches are once again in working order.

Is Amtrak run by the Govt?
Close. It is funded by the Government.
It would never exist without that.
No economic reason for it, despite the best efforts of the liberals to keep every form of mass transit this side of angel wings, and it is, financially speaking, a disgrace.

I know full well that you’ve had a lot of rain...all over the state!
I recently spent 2 days in Dallas trying to fly out because of the bad weather.
