Forrest's soldiers loved him. His fellow generals admired him. His enemies were terrified at the mere mention of his name. Gen. Robert E. Lee said of his finest subordinate commanders, the most remarkable was one he "had never met" — Forrest. And U.S. and foreign military officers alike have studied Forrest’s campaigns over the decades since the end of the war. It has even been speculated that some aspects of the German Blitzkrieg were patterned after some of Forrest's operations.

btw, a NOTED writer with published articles in YACHTING, THE RUDDER,MOTORBOATING & SAILING, etc is hardly an "unknown author". also, the review of the book in Rudder magazine said that the author was a RADM in the USCG.

And what was his name again?

btw, how many published works of ANY kind do YOU have????

None. It doesn't get any rarer than that. I guess my stuff must be worth a fortune, huh?

face it, N-S, you're NOT being persuasive in trying to "change the subject" away from "bubba's" LIES.

Oh I'm reasonably sure that there are a lot of lies involved in this. But I don't think they're comming from Bubba Ho-Tep.

my guess is that your expertise in rare books is about ZILCH. (mine certainly is not much better.)

Oh I've done enough buying and selling in books to have a pretty good idea of what goes on. I'll agree with you, however, that, based on what you've been saying, your expertise in the area is most likely at the sub-ZILCH level. This guy, assuming the ad is on the level, is probably hoping to hit the jackpot by trolling for a sucker with similar know-how that will buy his $10 book for a thou. Love the line about wanting to fund his education with the proceeds.

also, the review of the book in Rudder magazine said that the author was a RADM in the USCG

Really? Beause a couple of months ago, you said that he wasn't associated with the USCG, and was elected "Commodore" of the Texas Coastal Patrol. You also claimed that the only reason you ever said he was a RADM was that you got it from one of Heyworth's old posts. Shall I post the old posts to refresh your memory? They can be found on this thread.

I had wondered why a Commodore in the USCG had gotten something as blatantly wrong as claiming that a captured U-boat was sitting in a Galveston park, and you said that maybe he'd just heard something about it. You also said,

"fyi, he was NOT a Commodore (O-7) in the USCG.

his title was awarded him as a portion of his office as the leader by ELECTION of his peers of The Texas Coastal Patrol, which was NOT affiliated with the Coast Guard.

it was a TEXAS (privately funded/armed/supplied) operation, from beginning to end. the NY Naval Militia was similar to the TCP,in that it functioned "under the guidance of" the NYAG's office, while remaining privately funded/supplied/armed. (post 1260)

I kept asking you about how he could have been both a commodore in the Texas Coastal Patrol (whatever that is) and a RAM(ret'd), as you'd said earlier, and you said, in post #1314
"RAM" was the WW2 designation for REAR ADMIRAL. Yachting magazine's review of the book (according to "heyworthLESS") said he was a RAM (Ret).

I know it must be hard for you to keep all these stories straight.

Regardless of your position with respect to the war, I'm simply trying to save you several hundred dollars and a jail term.

Yeah, I'm gonna sweat that one. But I've removed the post having made the point that anyone can list anything on craigslist, and it doesn't constitute proof that it actually exists.

to "bubba": laughing AT you. did you miss that i said the REVIEWER said that he was a retired Rear Admiral??

what i said was that i believed that he was the elected Commodore of the TCP & nothing more.(unlike "know it alls" like YOU, reviewers make mistakes-you, otoh, just KNOWINGLY LIE & LIE.)

when you get CAUGHT in a WHOPPER, then you try to change the subject, accuse someone else of persecuting you, accuse someone else of dishonesty, etc, etc, etc. what you SHOULD do, IF you were HONEST is ADMIT your dishonesty.

to ALL: what is going on here is that "bubba" is DESPERATELY trying to "change the subject" away from his KNOWING, intentional, LIES, which he routinely tells & which he "got caught in" this time.

everyone should ask him WHICH of the BANNED FReepers that he USED to be, before he reappeared on FR, with a new screen-name. (nobody, to my knowledge, believes that he wasn't previously a BANNED FReeper. the question is WHICH one.)

So what was he, an admiral in the USCG or a commodore in the “TCP”?

I haven't told any whopper. All I've said from Day 1 is that there doesn't seem to be any REAL evidence for the existence of this book that you've used to shift the blame from your ludicrous claim that there's a captured U-boat sitting in a Galveston park. And as I demonstrated, a craigslist ad doesn't constitute proof of jack.

So what was the author's rank and branch of service again?

OR are you perhaps STILL trying to divert everyone's attention away from your knowing LIES???

Show me a link to a credible source--a library, a real bookseller, or a bibliography--that lists the work and I'll happily retract. By the way, I just searched the US Naval Academy library for the book. Guess what?

So what was the author's rank and branch of service again?

then-Colonel Irwin Rommel when he was visiting the United States in 1937/38

There is a novel "Rommel and the Rebel" by Lawrence Wells. The plot is based on the idea that one of Montgomery's intelligence officers enlists the help of a Southern historian, who is an expert on N.B. Forrest, to help predict Rommel's moves in the desert, based on "What would Forrest do?" Not great literature, but fairly good reading.

For that matter, what were some of his other books? All I've seen Watie credit him with is some magazine articles. Authors write books.

was that what i said???

of course it wasn't.

as i said, you're DESPERATELY trying to fool your readers into believing that your LIES are somebody's/everybody's/anybody's fault but YOUR OWN fault for "getting caught in a web of lies".

SORRY, but that won't fly.

what you SHOULD do is APOLOGISE to everyone & LEAVE FR, "with tail tightly tucked between your legs".

laughing AT your pitiful attempts to "change the subject".

are you going to try to "play that hand" out???

do you think authors only write BOOKS, as "bubba" does???

or can a person be an author of magazine articles alone???
