Six weeks after being removed as the head of NBCs entertainment division, Kevin Reilly resurfaced at the Fox network yesterday, assuming the position of president of the entertainment division.
At the same time, Fox elevated Peter Liguori, who had been the division president, giving him the new title of chairman of entertainment. The moves reunite the two men, who previously worked together at Foxs entertainment cable channel, FX, and programmed some of that channels biggest hits, including The Shield and Nip/Tuck.
Mr. Liguori said in a telephone interview that as soon as he heard that Mr. Reilly was being ousted at NBC, he spoke to Peter Chernin, the president of Foxs parent company, the News Corporation, and suggested that we go and bring Kevin in the organization.
*snip*
Mr. Reilly left little doubt that he did not feel the same way about his relationships with NBCs top management. One of the appeals is getting to have a completely different experience, he said, and having respect coming from the top down.
After Mr. Liguori described the plan for their partnership as the same collaboration we had at FX, where my job is to make sure Kevin Reilly has the opportunity to do what he does best, Mr. Reilly added, Im looking forward to reacquainting myself with that feeling.
While at NBC, Mr. Reilly introduced several successful series including the comedy My Name Is Earl and the drama Heroes. He was also one of the biggest early backers of the comedy The Office, which has gone on to become NBCs strongest comedy series.

Lots more creative freedom at FOX.
Is that the case?
Or is this like the Yankees signing Mario Mendoza, aka The Mendoza Line, to bat clean-up?
Starting to worry about FOX. Hiring somebody from NBC is like hiring a New York Times editor.
FOX has made some incredibly stupid personnel changes recently. They dumped a very bright lady - E.D.Hill - for an insipid mediocrity, and retained two male dufusses on their morning show which is beginning to look more and more like a supermarket tabloid than a real news station.
The unholy Triad of Larrison (Democrat Mouthpiece), Barnes (Super Bushbot) and Kondracke (totally clueless) are well edged out by Lou Dobbs.
Fox is UNWATCHABLE because there are SOOOOOO many LIEBERALS on it!
That’s the news division. This is the entertainment division, responsible for shows on FOX (like 24) and F/X.
Oh.
Well, then it looks like the Entertainment Division is taking over the News Division for the reasons I mentioned.
Umm, why would you want to bring in execs from failing networks?
Do we know whatever happened to Rita Cosby?
Early in his career at NBC, Reilly was involved with Law & Order in its first season and developed ER. He also worked at Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, where he developed shows including The Sopranos, NewsRadio, and Just Shoot Me. Before rejoining NBC in May 2004, he developed The Shield and Nip/Tuck for FX, and acquired the Denis Leary show Rescue Me for the network.
At NBC, Reilly's vocal support of The Office helped it survive it's low-rating first season. He is credited with developing hits such as My Name is Earl and Heroes, but also for critically acclaimed but low-rating shows such as 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights.
Looks like a pretty damn good track record, if you ask me.
Wish him success at Fox and more problems for NBC!
I love Fox News....but Fox entertainment is pure trash...would never watch it.
Two of those are the reasons I rarely watch Brit Hume any more. I can tolerate idiot liberals now and then.
Dufesses are another matter.
I don't watch FX that much, either. Too many annoying during-the-program advertisements. And, they have to have annoying sound effects as well.
F'em? I X'd them.
Not much I like about Fox these days either in the News and definitely not the entertainment side.. TV by large is a bit of a wasteland anyway. Slim pickings fer sure.

Rita Cosby Gets Sirius, Turns Down Job Offers And Talks
Yesterday, Rita Cosby went on Sirius radio** to address those rumors that she was forced out at MSNBC (turns out the decision was mutual!) and discusses the “plethora of things” she’s contemplating as her next potential gig (teaching, TV shows, radio shows, and more!) And, in between enlightening us as to the real reason behind her departure, Rita opened up about her one-of-a-kind journalistic approach.
I didn’t want to do what sort of everybody else is doing. I want to do roll-up-my-sleeves, get out there, go to these places, go get the guests.
Which, incidentally, is exactly the sort of ingenuity Rita demonstrated by crashing Anna Nicole Smith’s funeral.

Whatever happened to Rita Cosby, I assure you it was not enough. She was the Rachel Ray of broadcast news. SO glad she is gone from Fox. But then there is Kimberly Whatsits.... You can’t win.
man oh man, ask you a question and get an answer. Thanks mucho!!
Had she been there at the time, Cosby would have crashed the Resurrection.
