If you are inferring that I don't consider Fred a citizen because he didn't serve, you have missed my point.

I prefer a man with a military record in these times of turmoil in the world. We need leaders. Good men ready to what is necessary for America.

I simply prefer a man with a military record in these times.

I don’t understand the “charisma” thing. Duncan Hunter appears, perplexed, totally flabbergasted and somewhat impatient with the total lack of any kind of common sense and the plain as day pandering all the people around him exhibit day in and day out. You know, the people making the laws and running the country. I personally think he show great restraint. Boy would I love to be able to tell these people how the cow eats the cabbage. I know I wouldn’t be nice.

So I guess for your next trick you’re going find an author to ask us to reconsider thinking that Osama Bin Laden is an enemy of the American people, that the American people and its representative government caused 9/11, and that we should give your author credit because he/she has always provided objective information in the past.

This piece is a smear from end to end. Don’t ask people to remark to it because the pieces of this smear have been dissected in numerous Fred threads on FR since March 2007.

For people that want to learn about the real Fred Thompson, go to the reading list and FAQ compiled by Freeper Sturm Ruger:

McCain Feingold is enough to disqualify Thompson in my opinion. It shows that Fred Thompson disregarded his SWORN OATH to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

Thompson had just dealt with the investigations into illegal campaign contributions. He'd heard the testimony about bags of cash in the White House and Buddhist nuns turning over money to Algore. He was sick and tired of the big money taking politics out of the hands of the individual voter. THAT was his impetus for supporting McCain Feingold, and he didn't actually support ALL of its provisions.

His idea on political fundraising is to raise the amount that individuals can give to a much larger figure, then make public the names of EVERYONE who donates to a politician, even, I believe, individuals who have contributed as part of a group. He thinks that voters need to know just who is putting their money behind which candidates.

Oh. OK. Must be military to be PRESIDENT. I got it now. Sorry. I thought you were suggesting military people are better at being Citizens than mere mortals. We must reject people who want to be President on that basis.

I assume you support John McCain?

♦ FOR open-ended military commitments, specifically in regard to U.S. troops in Kosovo. See ACU’s vote 8, 2000.

He did actually speak from the senate floor in opposition to sending troops to join bin Laden's jihad against the Serbs. It seems to me that there were more conservatives opposed to Clinton's jihad than Democrats so let's not call that the liberal position now. No one was more gung ho for total war on the Christian Serbs than John Kerry, Joe Biden, Christiane Amanpour, George Soros and The New York Times...not too conservative.

Other than that, the author is right on.

Hey, if you like "conservative" columnists who parrot Democrat talking points, like D'Souza did in his most recent column, that's OK with me. He started that one off with how Bush is President thanks to a toss of a coin by SCOTUS back in '00.

I won't read his stuff, I won't read Donald Lambro. It's life, and life's too short for these clowns.

Perhaps "rumors" are enough evidence for you, but for me they are not.

Perhaps so, but the way to show me, is produce evidence to the contrary. I know a lot about lazy people, I am one. The evidence I have for myself is, the lack of visible production.

Damn this is complicated. 2008 will the first election I can vote in. And the primaries are coming up even faster. I’m not gonna vote for McCain, Rudy, or Romney. Previously the choice was Duncan Hunter or Fred. Now it looks like Hunter, I guess? I don’t even know where he stands on some of this stuff. Where is HIS voting record? I must say I wasn’t actually that impressed with Fred’s, I dunno why he’s getting such high approval ratings from conservative groups. But I gotta see the other guy’s platform before I decide anything. But what’s most troubling is Fred’s pro-choice leaning. He says he thought Roe v. Wade was a bad decision, but also says he’s a pro-choice defender in a pro-life party. That sounds like John Kerry flip-flopping. I’m not going to vote for a pro-choice candidate, and if Fred is pro-choice he’s not going to get my vote. If it’s necessary I’ll just stay home on election day.

Damn politics. I should just go discover some Pacific island, call it my own and be the all-powerful monarch and close the borders. But that’s wishful thinking.

“Good Heavens! The man’s the Antichrist!”

Yeah I just love posters who advocate supporting a candidate that meets their criteria of conservative enough. That will insure defeat in ‘08. But afterwards they will still be defending their position, we were wrong, they were right. I have never seen a differance between that attitude and what I read by DU supporters of sure losers like Dennis Kucinich or John Edwards If a candidate does not appeal to the CENTER he will lose.

Hunter is my first choice. The Bush Machine is already pulling a JD Hayworth on Hunter/ and the globalist media
won’t give him airtime. I am for a Thompson/Hunter ticket,
as it is a winner!!

I missed that column. Sounds like I should be glad about that. But there are many conservative authors I cannot tolerate. Novak comes to mind. As well as the Brooks guy at the NY Times and the entire WSJ editorial board.

You assume too much.

Also, you seem adept a twisting/inserting words - please stop.

Between Thompson and Hunter I would not hesitate or hold my nose voting for either man for president.

Hunter has my vote in the primaries though - because of his military record.

Author had some things wrong in the first part of the article that made me question other parts.

1. Fred was lawyer turned politician not an actor first.

2. There is nothing more boring than a making movie. It is hurry up and wait to the inth degree.
