In a story from Sydney covering the Live Earth Gorebasm Concerts, the following picture was included:
Caption: Cool start ... scientists from the British research station in Antarctica were the first to kick off the Live Earth concerts with their indie band, Nunatak. Photo: Reuters
There is something odd about this picture, namely that it is the dead of Winter in Antarctica right now. The conditions there right now are perpetual darkness and unbearably cold temperatures. Yet in this photo, it is daylight, and one of the musicians isn't even wearing a hat. Exposed skin is highly susceptible to frostbite at temperatures below -20 degrees. If you look closely, you can even see liquid water in the background which would not be possible this close to land.
FOTFLOL
You suffer from cranial rectumitis.
FWIW, Starry Nitht 5.0 gives sunrise and sunset at 66.5 degrees South, 0 degrees W on July 7, 2007 as: 11:31:33 GMT, 14:38:37 GMT. The sun transits at 13:05:05 at 54 minutes of arc (not quite one degree) above the horizon.
So the Antartic circle had a brief day with the sun hardly visible on the horizon at noon.
Should be close to 24 hours of darkness in Antaractica right now. That seems like a hell of a lot of light to me.
Totally lame, you guys. Polar bears are at the other pole. It would have been funnier with penguins, who actually do live in Antarctica.
Halley is 75 degrees south, so it is dark outside all 24 hours.
You could have simply acted like a man and admitted your mistake, but I see you haven't reached that level yet.
Also in the 90's, 1992 IIRC, drove up to the Eastern Townships of Quebec for a weekend of skiing at Mont Orford. Dunno what the temp actually was, but it was COLD!!! Upon getting ready to leave for back home on monday morning, my car [1982 Honda Accord, 5-speed] started right up no problem, but the gearshift was completely frozen! Couldn't even budge the darn thing for a 1/2 hour! Had to warm up the gearbox for that long just to get the stick to move .......
But the sad thing about that trip was when I discovered the case of Molson Brador in the trunk which bottles had burst. I almost cried when I saw that .........

I feel your pain. :)
What’s with the microphone? Anyone spot an amp or even a wire?
look at what they’re cooking in the fire..
The mic could be wireless, but it doesn't look like their are any wires to the Electric Guitars!

“I am saying that this picture was not taken on July 7, 2007 as the caption implies.”
That’s it? “Sydney Morning Herald’s picture editor could be more precise” hardly counts as ‘breaking news’.
Here’s the same file photo on a story from the third so, obviously.
