Conspiracy theorists, listen up! On Mondays Rush Limbaugh Show, the conservative talk show host implored President Bush to pardon Scooter Libby. Everything in this case is just senseless, Limbaugh said. There was never any crime. We knew who made the original leak about whats-her-name. Its unbelievable. Then Limbaugh rendered his verdict: Its time for this pardon. It just really is. ... I dont see how it could lower his standing in the polls.
Mere hours later, Bush commutes Scooter Libbys sentence. Was he tuned into Rushs EIB Network up in Kennebunkport? You be the judge.

Agreed! Trent Cavealott said so himself. Talk radio runs the country, therefore Rush pardoned Libby.

Why run for office when you can run the country without the hassle and keep your money?

Except that he didn’t get a full pardon, but had his sentence commuted. He can’t practice law, has to pay the fine, and is still considered a felon.

Maybe Bush listened to Fred?
Or any of millions of others who were aware of this legal absurdity?

If I could do it quickly, I’d alter that Patton pix with caption, “Rove, you magnificent bastard!” to say “Rush, you magnificent bastard!”

Given the vast difference between a commutation of jail time and a pardon, if Bush was listening, he certainly didn't hear very well.
