Multiple births, multiple risks For fertility doctors, one is still the magic number.

Two weeks ago, Brianna Morrison gave birth to six babies in Minneapolis. Less than a day later, Jenny Masche delivered six babies in a Phoenix hospital. Both of the women had been treated for infertility and had used fertility-enhancing drugs.

The two families expressed joy, but many fertility doctors were dismayed. For years, doctors have been pushing to lower the rate of multiple births due to fertility treatment. Not only had two headline-grabbing births occurred in the same week, but several recent scientific papers also revealed mixed results in the eight-year effort to reduce the U.S. multiple-birth rate.

Because of abortion, the wait for an infant is LONG. There aren't as many infants available as there are couples wanting to adopt them.

If parents want to consider an older child, that's a whole other story. The best adoption option for parents who want an infant is to go the overseas route. Expensive, and you don't get a whole lot of medical history sometimes.

It is ‘unethical’ to allow a woman to carry a multiple children to term, but it isn’t unethical to kill all but one of the children in the womb? Somehow I think God would disagree with these fellows.

Well, there’s an ethical hit either way, since basically the medical procedure involves creating an environment where there are many more children in the womb than normal (statistically). Hence a high likelihood that the fetuses will not make it to term, or if they do, they’ll be so compromised that they die in infancy.

Nevertheless, they only compound their wrong-doing when they abort some of the children.

It’s more expensive and difficult.
