A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.
U.S. officials have kept the information secret, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the United States did not have "have any specific credible evidence that there's an attack focused on the United States at this point."
As ABCNews.com reported, U.S. law enforcement officials received intelligence reports two weeks ago warning of terror attacks in Glasgow and Prague, the Czech Republic, against "airport infrastructure and aircraft."
The warnings apparently never reached officials in Scotland, who said this weekend they had received "no advance intelligence" that Glasgow might be a target.
Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff declined to comment specifically on on the report today, but said "everything that we get is shared virtually instantaneously with our counterparts in Britain and vice versa."
Unlike the United States, officials in Germany have publicly warned that the country could face a major attack this summer, also comparing the situation to the pre-9/11 summer of 2001.
We need to go back to the rumor that was circulated regarding what the United States response will be if another terrorist attack happens here. Remember the rumored plan that in the event of any terrorist attack, no matter who is responsible, there will be 450 strategic targets in Iran that will be bombed to the stone age immediately. Iran better be begging the cockroaches not to lift a finger or that country will look like a pile of rubble in a very short time.
The "kill zone" on these weapons is 40 miles around an airport. The devices are small and easy to use.

Never gonna happen under this administration. Bush and Company are totally unwilling and incapable of defending themselves or punishing traitorous news outlets. Dick Cheney is the ONLY person in the White House with a backbone, but he isn’t calling the shots. Bush has allowed himself to become a wimp who simply will not defend himself.

Interesting - they claim that there are/were secret documents warning of a ‘spectacular’ event (probably are such documents every week). An unspectacular event occurs and they go into “told you so” mode anyway, as if to indicate that the warnings were ignored. Completely ignored is the fact that two bomb-laden vehicles were captured before they were detonated. But that would be good news, and the press certainly doesn’t want to publish that. Seems to me that the media has alterior motives, as usual.

I, too, was thinking that is a likely date, the anniversary of their London bus bombings. But I also think I will stay away from the July 4 concert and fireworks on the Mall this summer because that event is an opportune target if I’ve ever seen one. We can only hope and pray that they are using the telephone eavesdropping provisions of the Patriot Act like crazy right now.

Chertoff is a complete moron. He couldn’t calculate the date of his birthday. This has got to be a leak by some anti-American creep with an agenda.
AQ especially seems to pick dates that either point to times in history or make some sort of sequence. I believe that the Spain bombings were on 7/7 and were something like 911 days after 9/11... I remember the number of days was significant, but not he specifics.
