Yet another message from Zawahiri: Aggression Against Lal Masjid

A complete transcript in English follows of this afternoon's new message from Al Qaeda second-in-command Dr. Ayman al Zawahiri. The message is in a video showing a still image of Zawahiri while an audiotape of Zawahiri's voice plays in the background.

The video is 4 minutes, 24 seconds long, and was released with English subtitles and an English transcript.

The Aggression Against Lal Masjid

In the name of Allah, and all praise is due to Allah, and may peace and prayers be on the Messenger of Allah and on his family, companions and allies. Muslim brothers everywhere: peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. I talk to you today on the occasion of the criminal aggression carried out by Musharraf, his army and his security organs - the Crusaders' hunting dogs - against Lal Masjid in Islamabad, and on the occasion of the dirty, despicable crime committed by Pakistani military intelligence - at the orders of Musharraf - against Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi when it showed him on television in women's dress. This is a message of blinding clarity to the Muslims in Pakistan, the Pakistani Ulema, and indeed, the Ulema in the rest of the Islamic world, and this crime can only be washed away by repentance or blood. I call on the Ulema in Pakistan and tell them: this is what you are worth to Musharraf, and this is the treatment that awaits you in the prisons of Musharraf's hunting dogs, and this is what you are worth to the Crusaders. Musharraf and his hunting dogs have rubbed your honor in the dirt in the service of the Crusaders and the Jews, and if you don't retaliate for your honor, Musharraf won't spare any of you, and won't stop until he eradicates Islam from Pakistan. Lowly Musharraf, who has sold his honor and religion to the Crusaders and Jews, is arrogant with you in the extreme and regards you with the utmost contempt, and treats you like animals and dogs, and only is satisfied by portraying you in the lowliest and most despicable light.

This is an eloquent message [from Musharraf] to every scholar and every free and honorable person in Pakistan: that resisting Musharraf, confronting him and demanding that he adhere to Islam and refrain from worshiping the Crusaders and Jews will only get you the worst types of contempt, humiliation and degradation. [But in fact] this is your fate if you are silent and prefer the life of this world to the hereafter. Muslims of Pakistan: your salvation is only through Jihad. Rigged elections will not save you, politics will not save you, and bargaining, bootlicking, negotiations with the criminals and political maneuvers will not save you. Your salvation is only through Jihad, so you must now back the Mujahideen in Afghanistan with your persons, wealth, opinion and expertise, because the Jihad in Afghanistan is the door to salvation for Afghanistan, Pakistan and the rest of the region. Die honorably in the fields of Jihad, and don't live like women with moustaches and beards. Aren't there any honorable ones in Pakistan? Aren't there any jealous ones? Isn't there anyone who prefers the hereafter to the life of this world? "O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that, when you are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, you cling heavily to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life as compared with the hereafter. Unless you go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment, and put others in your place. But Him you would not harm in the least, for Allah has power over all things. If you help him not, Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him out, the second of two; when they both were in the cave, when he said to his companion, 'Don't worry. Allah is with us.' Then Allah sent down His reassuring tranquility upon him and supported him with hosts you did not see, and made the word of those who disbelieved the nethermost, while Allah's word became the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise. Go forth [whether equipped] lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle with your goods and your persons in the cause of Allah. That is best for you, if you but knew." (9:38-41)

Have I not conveyed? O Allah, be my witness. Have I not conveyed? O Allah, be my witness. Have I not conveyed? O Allah, be my witness. And our final prayer is that all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and prayers be on our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.

If I think back to 9/11 and the assassination that led up to 9/11, leads me to think he would like the assassination of Musharif, which would lead to jihad here.

Sounds like old Zawahiri's got some slackers in his organization - maybe some kids looked at him and wondered why - if the afterlife is sooooooo great - why is Zawahiri "clinging" to this world... Maybe the old man is lying to them... or playing them for fools. Or maybe, if Allah is all powerful, he could come here and speak for himself.. or maybe, just maybe, self- appointed leaders like Zawahiri only speak for themselves. And they will die for nothing.

Two things that stood out (to me) ~

1. The phrase: your salvation is only through Jihad is in there twice.

2. "If you help him not, Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him out, the second of two ; when they both were in the cave, when he said to his companion, 'Don't worry.Allah is with us.'"

Does the phrase "second of two", in the context of that sentence, make any sense?

Hah! never mind the fact that the little dope was actually wearing the dress! AZ is mad because sittee (grandmother) was shown wearing it!

Deadly attack on Pakistani troops (excerpt)

The number of soldiers killed in a suicide attack on a military convoy in north-western Pakistan has risen to 24, a Pakistan army spokesman has said.

Twenty-nine others were also hurt when the convoy was hit in the remote tribal region of North Waziristan. Major General Waheed Arshad admitted the attack could be linked to the storming of the Red Mosque this week. Troops have been sent close to the area amid fears militants may be planning a “holy war” in response to the siege. . .

Thousands of troops have been moved into the province as President Pervez Musharraf vows to pursue his campaign of rooting out extremists. Although there is no new deployment to Waziristan, militants there say the government has broken peace agreements by setting up checkpoints. Militant commander Abdullah Farhad told the Agence France-Presse news agency there could be “guerrilla war” if all checkpoints were not removed by Sunday.

Protests against the Red Mosque attack were held across the country on Friday. Demonstrators in Peshawar were told it was a “genocide” in which “hundreds of innocent women and children died”. In Islamabad, hundreds of demonstrators attended a rally organised by Pakistan’s main alliance of radical parties, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal. “This carnage will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of Musharraf’s dictatorial rule in Pakistan,” the group’s deputy leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hydri told the gathering.

“Now there will be Red Mosques everywhere in Pakistan.”

Suicide attack kills 24 in Pakistan

A suicide bomber has attacked a military convoy killing at least 24 soldiers in northern Pakistan, as thousands of troops were deployed to thwart a call for holy war against the government.

The driver ploughed his explosives-laden vehicle into the convoy on a road near the village of Daznary in the North Waziristan region, detonating the device upon impact. Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad said the dead and 29 others who were wounded had been transported by helicopters to hospitals, where some were in critical condition. The incident was one of the most lethal suicide attacks in recent months. . .

Suicide Attack Kills 24 Troops In Pakistan

Pakistan’s security officials on Saturday warned against the danger of more al Qaeda-backed suicide attacks across the country, as the death toll mounted from a suicide attack in the country’s tribal regions along the Afghan border. The attack on a paramilitary convoy in the north Waziristan region killed 24 soldiers while more than two dozen were injured, when a car packed with explosives rammed into a truck. “This attack indicates the danger of more attacks being planned” said a senior Pakistani official in Islamabad who spoke to CBS News on the condition of anonymity. The attack was linked by Pakistani officials to al Qaeda.

Earlier in the week, Ayman Al Zawahiri, the second-highest-ranking al Qaeda leader in his latest video message release, condemned Pakistan’s pro-U.S. military ruler General Pervez Musharraf for his decision to send troops to storm a “Taliban”-styled mosque in the centre of Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

The lal (red) mosque and its adjoining women’s seminary known as jamia-e-hifza were at the center of months of standoff with the government after they threatened to enforce Taliban-type Islamic laws. . .
