The Fox news panel, including Brit who called the defeat of the bill "tragic," was no better. They continue to make this sound like the bill was defeated by a vocal minority aided by talk radio and that the majority of the people want to legalize the status of the illegals. No mention is made of what the consequences of this legalization of status would mean in terms of more LEGAL immigrants and a stampede of more illegals.

We could have added anywhere from 30 to 50 million new LEGAL immigrants who would be united in the US with their family. And on top of that, there would also be the stampede of illegals to get into this country to get amnesty this time around using fraudulent documents during the 2 and 1/2 year window they would have the opportunity to apply for a Z visa, a window that probably would have to be extended given the inability of the bureaucracy to handle such numbers.

Absolutely correct and I don't recall this fact being brought up anywhere on any of the shows, figures. When Chertoff was asked about decoupling the parts of the immigration bill he refused to "speculate",.

The past week means nothing to anyone up there, it's like a small bump in the road to them.

It seemed to me that Brit was saying the results of the bill would be tragic. He also countered Juan re the "anti-Mexican, Anti-Latino, anti-Hispanic" crap that Juan was spouting. He reminded Juan that what people who were against the bill objected to was "illegal" was going to immediately be made "legal" .

I wish someone would've addressed one of the main reasons for the antagonism toward illegals: their demands for their "rights", as evidenced by their protests and demonstrations, all the while waving their mexican flags and denouncing the U.S. That is what awakened the "Sleeping Giant" of the American citizenry. Having lived in Central California for 21 years, we could see this coming a mile away, but the rest of the country wasn't paying attention. They sure are paying attention now.
