Apperently since either the Democrats or the Republicans fillbuster every attept to fix the problem In all the back slapping, people seem to have missed last week was a negative victory. It did not gain the Right anything, it merely prevented the other side from winning anything All last week did was maintain the status quo, which supposedly is the whole problem with the border.
1. The problem of securing our borders.
2. The problem of what to do with the millions of illegals already here.
Congress tried to combine the two issues for sheer political gain and got busted by an overwhelming majority of the populace. So great it collapsed phone systems.
The challenge now is to get a Presidential candidate who is strong enough to run on the separation of both issues, then get elected, and then get both sides to agree on the separation. I don't know if it can be done or not.
Many see Fred Thompson as our only hope,it's gonna get interesting.
The status quo is better than legalizing the status of 12 to 20 million illegals who could then sponsor thru chain migration another 25 to 50 million more LEGAL immigrants to this country. The House passed a border security /enforcement first bill last year but the WH stabbed the House Reps in the back by not supporting it.
