It helps the professional fund raisers and campaign strategy people stay employed. And we the people allow this to continue, just like we let the illegal alien problem go until we are knee deep in illegals.

Apperently since either the Democrats or the Republicans fillbuster every attept to fix the problem In all the back slapping, people seem to have missed last week was a negative victory. It did not gain the Right anything, it merely prevented the other side from winning anything All last week did was maintain the status quo, which supposedly is the whole problem with the border.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

That bill contained provisions that were mind-boggling. One report even said that it gave the UN authority over US border issues.

The problem was -- no one, apparently except Kennedy, had a copy of the exact bill and it's contents.

At most, they got -- after Sessions objected -- a copy of a 300+page amendment that they were supposed to vote on before the text was released. Even the chair had to stop the proceedings and locate a copy after Sessions demanded the text be read into the record.

The problem is that there are two separate issues.

1. The problem of securing our borders.

2. The problem of what to do with the millions of illegals already here.

Congress tried to combine the two issues for sheer political gain and got busted by an overwhelming majority of the populace. So great it collapsed phone systems.

The challenge now is to get a Presidential candidate who is strong enough to run on the separation of both issues, then get elected, and then get both sides to agree on the separation. I don't know if it can be done or not.

Many see Fred Thompson as our only hope,it's gonna get interesting.

All last week did was maintain the status quo, which supposedly is the whole problem with the border.

The status quo is better than legalizing the status of 12 to 20 million illegals who could then sponsor thru chain migration another 25 to 50 million more LEGAL immigrants to this country. The House passed a border security /enforcement first bill last year but the WH stabbed the House Reps in the back by not supporting it.

Sensenbrenner: Bush Turned Back on Bill

Let's implement the Secure Fence Act of 2006 , which was passed by the senate 80-19 and included yes votes by Hillary, Obama, Biden, Dodd, Boxer, Schumer, McCain, Brownback, Martinez, and Specter.
