Zimbabwe’s top cleric urges Britain to invade (Socialist Utopia Alert)

ZIMBABWE’S leading cleric has called on Britain to invade the country and topple President Robert Mugabe. Pius Ncube, the Archbishop of Bulawayo, warned that millions were facing death from famine, unable to survive amid inflation believed to have soared to 15,000%.

Mugabe, 83, had proved intransigent despite the “massive risk to life”, said Ncube, the head of Zimbabwe’s 1m Catholics. “I think it is justified for Britain to raid Zimbabwe and remove Mugabe,” he said. “We should do it ourselves but there’s too much fear. I’m ready to lead the people, guns blazing, but the people are not ready.”

Some parts of Zimbabwe have seen 95% of crops fail, leaving families with only two or three weeks’ food supply to last a year. Prices in the shops are more than doubling every week and Christopher Dell, the American ambassador, predicts that by the end of the year inflation could hit 1.5m%.

Ncube said that far from helping those struggling on less than £1 a week, Mugabe had just spent £1m on surveillance equipment to monitor phone calls and e-mails. “How can you expect people to rise up when even our church services are attended by state intelligence people?

“People in our mission hospitals are dying of malnutrition. We had the best education in Africa and now our schools are closing. Most people are earning less than their bus fares. There’s no water or power. Is the world just going to let everything collapse in on us?”

Outstanding. This is a clergyman with GUTS.
And he happens to be right. A British invasion is exactly what should happen.

From the article...

No, NO! HELL NO! When the people are ready, you're not going to need the British, you'll just GET.IT.DONE. Last time Regime change was tried it was in a place called Iraq. Yeah, that worked out real well </sarcasm>

Why is this Britain’s problem? Let the UN handle it, and show everyone how much better they are at solving the world’s problems than the US. Teach us a lesson, that’s what they need to do.

Why should the British die for what the Zimbabweans won’t die for?

ZIMBABWE’S leading cleric has called on Britain to invade the country and topple President Robert Mugabe.

For what conceivable reason would Britain "invade" a third world toilet like Zimbabwe?

The United Nations should of intervened in Zimbabwe with some troops in order to successfully take out Mugabe and all of his cronies years ago! There continues to be too many examples where the United Nations fails to do what’s right and to do things to the best of abilities. What a useless entity!

I guess the Bishop is appealing to Britain because Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) was once part of the British commonwealth.

The popular “land reforms” (aka eliminate white farmers) instituted by Mugabe in 2000 was the catalyst for the current crisis. I seem to recall discussion of FR when it was happening that it would be disastrous and they would be seeking foreign aid. The consensus then was when the disaster came to let them stew. I see no reason to revise that opinion now. Hopefully the Brits are of the same mind.

Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny,
And in this judgement there is no partiality.
So arm in arms, with arms, we’ll fight this little struggle,
‘Cause that’s the only way we can overcome our little trouble.

Brother, you’re right, you’re right,
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right!
We gon’ fight (we gon’ fight), we’ll have to fight (we gon’ fight),
We gonna fight (we gon’ fight), fight for our rights!

Natty Dread it in-a (Zimbabwe);
Set it up in (Zimbabwe);
Mash it up-a in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Africans a-liberate (Zimbabwe), yeah.

No more internal power struggle;
We come together to overcome the little trouble.
Soon we’ll find out who is the real revolutionary,
‘Cause I don’t want my people to be contrary.

And, brother, you’re right, you’re right,
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right!
We’ll ‘ave to fight (we gon’ fight), we gonna fight (we gon’ fight)
We’ll ‘ave to fight (we gon’ fight), fighting for our rights!

Mash it up in-a (Zimbabwe);
Natty trash it in-a (Zimbabwe);
Africans a-liberate Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
I’n’I a-liberate Zimbabwe.

(Brother, you’re right,) you’re right,
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right!
We gon’ fight (we gon’ fight), we’ll ‘ave to fight (we gon’ fight),
We gonna fight (we gon’ fight), fighting for our rights!

To divide and rule could only tear us apart;
In everyman chest, mm - there beats a heart.
So soon we’ll find out who is the real revolutionaries;
And I don’t want my people to be tricked by mercenaries.

Brother, you’re right, you’re right,
You’re right, you’re right, you’re so right!
We’ll ‘ave to fight (we gon’ fight), we gonna fight (we gon’ fight),
We’ll ‘ave to fight (we gon’ fight), fighting for our rights!

Natty trash it in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Mash it up in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Set it up in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Africans a-liberate Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Africans a-liberate Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Natty dub it in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe).

Set it up in-a Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Africans a-liberate Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe);
Every man got a right to decide his own destiny.

Bob Marley’s ghost must be very aggrevated .
Be careful what you wish for , you just might get it.

Seleous Scouts were far better than Mugabe

The reason the good cleric is urging the British to intervene is that Zimbabwe used to be Rhodesia, a British colony and commonwealth member. The idea of British military intervention first came when Britain offered independence to the country, and Ian Smith declared “UDI” - unilateral declaration of independence - on behalf of the white farmers and their interests. His opinion was that a black majority government (blacks made up about 85% of the population in those days I believe) would allow “one man, one vote, once” - a prophecy which has come all too true, unfortunately.

It was felt that British military intervention to crush this rebellion (which effectively was what it was) was just simply too risky. Britains strongest card, militarily, has always been the navy, but Rhodesia/Zimbabwe is a land locked country. Therefore, initial assaults would have to be made by paratroops on the few airstrips, and all follow up forces would have to come in by air, as would all of their supplies. Thats a long long way from the UK. It would cost a fortune to do, and we would have to travel over large expanses of Africa, several of whose nations might well protest the use of their airspace. Rhodesia had a small but very professional army - they would not have been pushovers. Besides, what would the (then) apartheid regime in South Africa have made of this? Suppose they had come to the aid of the Rhodesians? In all probability we would have been militarily overwhelmed, as they could send many more reinforcements to the area much quicker than we could have by an air bridge. A major defeat in Africa would have been disastrous. Even if we did achieve our objective, the whole of sub saharan Africa would have erupted.

Not many people are going to cry for Mugabe if he gets his comeuppances, but the military logistical problems remain as daunting as ever. Instead of a small, professional army, he has a very large enthusiastic barely competent one. The South Africans won’t help him, but they won’t help us either. African nations get twitchy over “neo-colonialism”, even if it is in their best interests. Even if we do win, Mugabe has probably pushed Zimbabwe too far down the slope. We would inherit a ravaged economy, and a decadent political situation that might entangle us for years. The UK military is already stretched with commitments to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Falklands and other theaters. Procurement of new military equipment is already becoming compromised.

For myself, I would love the UK to ride to the rescue of the country, and topple the dictator Mugabe, but facing harsh reality, it is just simply not possible. Tragic.

Yep. A country that puts Marxists in power gets what it deserves. Let us not lift a finger to prevent the inevitable. It will be a useful object lesson for centuries to come.
