Another interesting observation: the only reason Duncan Hunter didn’t win this is that Tom Tancredo and Hunter are splitting the conservative vote.

But California is Hunter’s home state. Shouln’t Hunter, the most conservative of all the candidates, have won a straw poll of conservatives in his own home state?

California Republican Assembly at its annual convention.

This sounds like a straw poll of Republicans, which means that in California there are a good number of liberals thrown into the mix as well. Which makes me wonder if the Rudy Giuliani forces, seeing that their candidate can't win, have started shifting resources to the Fred Thompson camp. I know I see some of the same names around here pushing the two guys.
