Counterterror expert: London bomb probably Al-Qaeda’s greeting for Gordon Brown
Probably not Irish. From SkyNews (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
Shane Brighton, a counter-terrorism expert, told Sky the device may be linked to Al Qaeda in the wake of Gordon Brown becoming Prime Minister.
He said: “This is highly unlikely to be an Irish device, given the current state of politics there. Al Qaeda tend to go for symbolic timing.”

um hm
and of course this breaking news:
(cnn.com)
In a surprise move, the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal by Guantanamo detainees of their terrorism-era confinement behind bars.
Thanks for all the updates on this thread.
Multiple road closures and searches of suspect vehicles looking for that hallmark muti-pronged AQ MO will be playing havoc with the Friday rush hour traffic building up now (London is 5 hours ahead of EST/EDT).
I hope the terrorists do not have other assets in place.
I still think an attack tonight would have been more effective (Tiger Tiger was not full last night, but they are often at, or past, capacity on the weekend)
