Actually...it's our "Republic" that isn't dead. It shows that our representative, who are supposed to represent us, can be moved if enough of us contact them...and that is how it is should work.

Our nation was never meant to be a democracy, and the word is not found in the Constitution. But Republic is, and that is what we are a Constitutional Republic founded on the premise that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights that are supposed to trump dictators, parliments, presidents, senators...and the folks next door as well.

Great day for our Republis...lets us know that there is yet hope. These pols got the fear of their political life punded into them over this. Now its time to turn them out because on an issue so defining, so fundamnetal, they should never have had to be so moved. For those who were against it from the get go...fine, but fot all the others...turn 'em out and vote in people who have their bearings straight.
