I'm guessing alot of former "yes" voters on this put their finger in the wind and realized this turd was going nowhere, so they switched in order to be in the majority.

Not quite yet. Not until we thank those who voted no and the leaders who fought effectively against it.

So email or call those who voted 'NO'. Thank them and urge them to secure the borders and enforce workplace law...and to make whatever new law is needed to gain control of illegal immigration.

Then you are done. Until they bring back this turkey again.

I'm still interested in keeping lists of those who didn't publicly come out against the bill before today. There will be a lot of "no" votes for cloture that would have gone the other way if the vote had been heading in that direction. Anyone who wasn't publicly against it and cloture needs to be sent home when they come up for reelection.

Actually...it's our "Republic" that isn't dead. It shows that our representative, who are supposed to represent us, can be moved if enough of us contact them...and that is how it is should work.

Our nation was never meant to be a democracy, and the word is not found in the Constitution. But Republic is, and that is what we are a Constitutional Republic founded on the premise that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights that are supposed to trump dictators, parliments, presidents, senators...and the folks next door as well.

Great day for our Republis...lets us know that there is yet hope. These pols got the fear of their political life punded into them over this. Now its time to turn them out because on an issue so defining, so fundamnetal, they should never have had to be so moved. For those who were against it from the get go...fine, but fot all the others...turn 'em out and vote in people who have their bearings straight.

I counted along as the No votes were announced...once they got to 40 or so, Brownback and Voinovich switched to No.

Also, McConnell and Warner, two other surprise No votes, did not cast theirs until after 40 No votes had been announced.

Just heard that so far, 18 senators switched to NO.

Once the "no" count hit 41 and there was no chance of getting it passed, there was no reason to vote yes and many "yes" voters switched to "no". Do not be fooled. If they voted "yes" earlier in the week, they wanted a yes and would have voted that way today if it would have pushed it over 60.

Voinovich's vote may have said no today, but his heart continues to say yes. You're out in 2010 Rinovich.
