Before he deleted his profile (because it revealed the truth about him) DCP proudly proclaimed himself to be hopelessly liberal.

Context please?

Leave it to wtc911 to keep lying about me.

I am a staunch conservative who is hopelessly liberal on the topic of immigration. And very proud of it too.

Good morning.
“Does no change make you happy?”

Hopefully, there was a major change, but no change is always better than change for the worse.

The political elites were shown that it is harder for them to screw us than they thought and, maybe, they will now address the problem of border security before they try to force their will us.

I’m sorry you are so unhappy at how the vote went. You appear to be the only FReeper who feels that way this morning.

That is from Tuesday’s vote to today’s vote. There were a few senators that switched from “aye” to “No” within the vote today. In fact, Senator Brownback is now being called “Senator Switchback” by some because he was one obvious one.

I only heard Coleman’s name once, and that was with a “No”. I was listening very intently because he is my senator. Our other one is always disappointing me, but what else is new in this blue state?

There’s no question this would have been a win for Reid and the Democrats. Therefore, it’s intellectually dishonest to contend (as Jeff has) that its failure to pass is not a loss for them.

Yes, but Harry and da boys would’ve gleefully accepted it in its original, vague, unamended form.

Cedric, have you ever heard the term "win-win"? There are situations where a person can come out ahead no matter what happens. In most situations, one outcome is even better than the other, but neither are negative.

In this case, what did the democrats lose? They didn't have amnesty to begin with and have never pushed it seriously. They'd be happy to take it, and that is exactly what the Bush whitehouse and the GOP Senate leadership offered.

The republican leadership has alientated a significant portion of their base. Who does that hurt, the dems or the pubs?

we just HAD to have that graphic

Sorry I didn't get it in earlier! I got up, saw that the vote was coming up in a half hour (I'm on the west coast), started emailing furiously to the Senate. Didn't see your thread until after the vote, when I was glued to CSPAN (after sitting through Reid's sappy, nauseating speech).

It's a great day for America and the Americans! Our Republic still lives, and the Forces of Darkness and Submission are once more pushed back!

Nope, and if you google "supreme court" in News, it gets even better!!

The Wife hung out the flag when the vote was posted, and we've been walking on air just like you ever since!

Okay, Jeff, read and learn:

Harry Reid is the Majority Leader. He had the President Of The United States (and his Cabinet), a dozen or so quisling Republican Senators and the Drive-By Media all honking for this bill. This was supposed to be an absolute “gimme” ----- and Reid blew it! His job is to shepherd legislation through the Senate and he failed! His job approval rating sunk to 19%!

Now, you tell us all how that’s a win-win for old Harry!

Fantastic! My faith in the power of the people is restored. This is a huge positive and could lead to good changes. The creeps of the senate have awoken the people in a way they didn’t want.
Thank you Jim Robinson, Sessions, Rush, Savage, and the rest.
Thank you truthkeeper. Your persistence was the final blow. Yippee!

The only reason I can think of for Republicans voting for this bill was to support businesses who want cheap labor.

Arguably, there is more cheap labor under the current unenforced laws than under the proposed law, no?
