Following a bitter backlash from many constituents who oppose her support of amnesty legislation, Feinstein is in search of a way to squelch debate. In the latest assault on the First Amendment, California Senator Dianne Fienstein called for a possible revival of the Fairness Doctrine on Fox News Sunday. In the interview, Feinstein told host Chris Wallace:
Well, in my view, talk radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to be dwelling in hyperbole. Its explosive. It pushes people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of information.
With all due respect Senator, your views on the legitimacy of the political convictions of other U.S. citizens is not subject to official scrutiny. It is not within the province of this government to legislate fairness or equality. You, Senator, are sworn to uphold liberty. Have you ever read the Constitution that you have sworn to uphold as a member of the U.S. Senate, or does your hypocrisy know no bounds? You seem not to have a problem with the mainstream press, who in survey after survey, shows itself to be overwhelmingly liberal. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19113485
The reality is that liberals have the same opportunity to put forth their views as conservatives, but, as in the case of Air America, they have not found a willing audience. Air America filed for bankruptcy in 2006 due to a lack of funds. http://newsbusters.org/node/7615 When challenged on this point by Chris Wallace, Feinstein responded by saying,
Well, apparently, there have been problems. It is growing. But I do believe in fairness. I remember when there was a fairness doctrine, and I think there was much more serious correct reporting to people.
This laughably obtuse answer belies Feinsteins real beliefs that irrespective of real opportunity, the wrong voices are being heard: conservative voices. It is no matter to the Senator that the market isnt responding to the liberal message on radio. Apparently in Feinsteins view, she and the government have a better grasp on what we should be hearing. Naturally, legislation is required.
How a United States Senator could propose such a naked attempt at squelching political opposition by curtailing one of the fundamental aspects of the U.S. Constitution is nothing short of shocking.GOPublius urges you to contact Senator Feinstein by calling (415) 393-0707 or (202) 224-3841.

Here we go — another Marxist, trying to suppress free speech. The liberals do not have a leg to stand on in ANY OPEN DEBATE so they want to kill the speech of those that can. This is Stalinism at its best. Throw in a little Marx while you are at it. They libs cannot get away with just lying anymore, since the world has their number. Now it is time to install the SPEECH AND THOUGHT GESTAPO.
Do we all believe what we are hearing here??? Oh, is that Trent Lott’s feet sticking out from under Di-Fi’s desk???
I called this elitist, who thinks she is “Queen,” this morning and told her staffer what I thought of her trying “to tell me what I could and could not listen to.” I urge all of you to do the same. IMO, Ms. Feinstein would like to be Dictator. Liberals, like Feinstein, would gladly take all our freedoms away to feed her quest for power.

The ACLU has come out strongly against her comments, right?
Oh... I didn’t think so.
Wow. The Nazi has spoken.
This senator needs to be removed from office as soon as possible, through constitutional means. She is a danger to our country and our culture. The American people do not need to pay traitors to do harm to us through our own government. We need a loyal and patriotic American to serve in her place and undo the host of harmful legislation she has championed.
GOD, these people are dumb. She needs a fight with talk radio like Bubba needs another bimbo.
“...more serious correct reporting to people.”
She misspoke here. What she meant was “more serious correct people reporting”. Big difference.
Long live Furher Feinstein!
We can get this squechled by adding a rider that prohibits the spouses of senators from earning money from government contracts (do I have the facts right?).
lol
Wow Atlas Shrugged happening before our very eyes!
Voinovich will vote for it.

I can envision an AM program on NBC: “The Mrs. Senator Hugo Feinstein News Hour.”
It's so bad, some well known talk show hosts in Southern California suggested they bulldoze down her office to get this arrogant elitists attention after she received 10,000 phone calls of outrage over these lawless borders, and this *#&% suggested that was not enough for her.
When I heard that, I was applauding!
It's a safe bet that if anybody used these exact words about PBS, the "Feinsteins" would immediately screech about censorship, free speech and discrimination against smug, wheyfaced liberal prisses.
Perhaps the ACLU should stop this move against free speech. Or is some free speech more free than others. (1984)
Her office said she was not paying attnetion to the anti-amnesty crowd because she didn’t have enougfh calls about it. She wakes up at 30,000. So Ken and John on KFI called her bluff and got the calls over the 30,000 mark. Then she stuttered and stammered and came up with this BS.
