WASHINGTON The fragile immigration reform bill crafted in the Senate faces sudden death Thursday when a second vote is scheduled to shut down a filibuster.
If supporters don't get the 60 votes they need to end debate, then the bill is dead since the Senate schedule does not allow any more time to revive the legislation.
In an unusual admission, two leadership aides one Democrat, one Republican told FOX News that they have no idea how the vote will go. Vote-counting is something that is normally down to a science in the Senate chamber. The vote to end debate, called "cloture," is expected at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The mood in the Senate took a perceptible shift Wednesday as lawmakers decided not to "table," or send into permanent limbo, one of the 27 amendments approved for debate. That amendment was designed to weaken worker verification standards that are key to the measure's approach to reducing the ability of illegals to obtain work with fraudulent documents.
The Senate vote, 45-52, not to kill the amendment stops all momentum toward passage, something the White House and bipartisan Senate leadership hoped to achieve by Friday.

I very rarely watch Fox News anymore, for the same reasons you cited. For me, they jumped the shark about a year ago or so.
I get most of my news/info off Free Republic, the internet and talk radio. That is good enough for me.
I do like Lou Dobbs, though I rarely watch his show. I see enough of his clips via Youtube that I don’t need to watch his show live.
JMHO : Now we can see the reason for all the “gun-grabs”
of the past,,,Can’t “MAKE” Bonzo “shuud’up”...;0)
Yes I have. I remember thinking a few years ago why he never mentioned Fox News. Maybe he knew something at the time we didn’t?
Yes, Talk Radio and the Internet are very powerful media and provide a much needed counter to the biased Lame Stream Media.
Talk Radio and the Internet have become so powerful that the dimrats and the rinos want to regulate both! First, they want to bring back the fairness doctrine. When (or if) that is done, they will come after the internet and sites like this one and hits us with new legislation regulating the internet.
As far as the dimrats and the rinos thumbing their noses at the new media, it is probably more to do with their arrogance and their totally being out of touch with the wishes and feelings of their respective political bases and the American People as a whole than trying to stick it to talk radio and the internet.
“At least nine other senators told FOX News they are undecided or leaning toward a no vote. They include Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor, Jim Webb, Jeff Bingaman, Robert Menendez and Republican Sens. Ted Stevens, Lisa Murkowski, Pete Domenici, Judd Gregg and John Ensign.
“
ONE LAST CALL AND EMAIL TO THESE FOLKS!
“Hopefully, it will still cause plenty of heartburn and lost votes for the two. If this thing dies, and nothing is done before the presidential campaign between the two nominees, it could cost the Dem heavily if their candidate supported the unpopular amnesty bill, and the Republican opposed it.
It definitely needs to be around for the presidential campaign.”
KEY WORDS: IF IT DIES!
If it passes, they were just 2 of 50 votes.
If it dies, then their Presidential policies are carved in Senate roll votes (one reason that Senatorial Prez candidates have a harder time).
Then we can set it up this way...
Obama and Clinton are majorly in the tank not only for Z visa amnesty but for some particularly odious add-ons and amendments votes as well.
When Bush is out of the way in 2008 in advanced lame-duckery, then the GOP can own immigration issue for real... 1) English as our language 2) Say “no” to amnesty 3) Secure the borders 4) Enforce the law 5) Real voter ID.
.... OBAMA AND CLINTON ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE ON ALL FIVE.
If the GOP tomorrow sinks the bill - MEANING MITCH MCCONNELL AND ENSIGN AND COLEMAN AND HATCH AND BROWNBACK BETTER BE SMART AND VOTE “NO” ON CLOTURE - THEN WE CAN START CALLING THIS BILL A DEMOCRAT BILL THAT OBAMA AND HILLARY WANT.
But first we have to end the careers of prominent pro-amnesty RINOs - Grahamnesty, McVain, etc. to make the distinction clear.
Bush has in effect nullified and destroy a key GOP advantage, just as he destroy fiscal discipline as a key GOP advantage and even tarnished national security ... it will take time, but with each Democrat mis-step we win those issues back.

Good for cutting off a horse's head and dumping it in someone's bed, I guess. /sarcasm>
Cheers!
Thank God!
Kill this bill!
Boxer, Fineswine, the Clintoons, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry and other left wing fascists in Congress will now try to silence Rush, Hannity, Anne and Free Republic in the dark corridors of the capitol.
They need to remember what happened to the Italian Fascists, who gained power before WWII at their end of WWII.
