I just bought my brother a TMobile, prepaid phone. He got it ripped off and got one exactly like it at Walmart for $39.95. He calls me from Oregon and I hear him just fine.
Attention Wal-Mart shoppers, the iPhone will never ever be in stock in this location.
We're talking about luxury goods here. Not some crapola mass-market phone. Apple doesn't even want to beat everyone. They just want the upscale customers. And all of their money of course.
A lot of people don't know it but you can buy cellphones for up to $40,000. And they just make calls and have platinum shells and such. There is a market for luxury goods, you know.

The one very real problem with the iPhone in the high-end market is the iPhone’s inability to work with a Microsoft Exchange server. That will keep a lot of business users away from the iPhone.

I don’t care how wealthy they are, anyone who would pay $40,000 for a cell is stupid.

(Nicole) “OOOOOOOOOOAAAAHHHHHHHHH, how does it work?
(Paris) “I don’t know.
