The one very real problem with the iPhone in the high-end market is the iPhone’s inability to work with a Microsoft Exchange server. That will keep a lot of business users away from the iPhone.

I don’t want one for the same reason I don’t want a Treo. I have a separate Palm (Tungsten T3), and I want it that way. I do my Word/Excel/PowerPoint (and countless other Palm apps) on the Palm, and I make my calls on my (very) simple Sanyo phone. I definitely don’t want a “convergent” device.

It can using standard POP and IMAP. When people say it won't work with Exchange, they mean it won't work with Microsoft's proprietary mail protocols.

GOOD! The major problem with the cell phone market is its orientation toward the business customer. The needs of business and the needs of the casual person are vastly different. The iPhone targets the person, not the business, to the point where business customers are being banned from purchasing iPhones.

It's about damned time.
