On her blog, CBS anchor Katie Couric is once again offering her love and kisses to Jimmy Carter. In a "Katie Couric's Notebook" video (which airs on some CBS affiliates as an Evening News promo), Couric used the occasion of Carter being awarded an honorary doctorate of civil law from Oxford to demand of viewers that "you have to respect him for sticking to his principles." Tell that to President Bush. She began by citing another Carter cheerleader:

Does Katie admire Hitler? He stuck to his anti-semitic principles too.

Perhaps if I knew what his principals were, I may consider whether or not I should respect him.
The one principal I know he has, treason, I do not agree with.

Question: Does Courics blog have her worship quote about “Saddam hopefully making it into Syria”?

Hitler stuck to his principles. I bet Katie also respects Hitler.
To: freemarket_kenshepherd
I will respect him when he shows respect to our country and our president.

When someone she cares about is beheaded by Jihadists, perhaps she’ll rethink her opinion of Carter — but I’m not holding my breath. The woman is incredibly stupid.

"If Jimmy Carter had won re-election, we would all be under Iranian control today."
In Carter's mind, if he'd had another term, he would have resolved the Middle East situation once-and-for-all. That's how smug and arrogant and delusional the little pr*ck is. I remember how he used to strut around on podiums when he was prez, full of self-importance and pomposity.

When you "stick to principles" that are manifestly idiotic, counterproductive and reactionary, it does not constitute an admirable quality. It is concrete headed mulishness.
Both Carter and Bush should examine their stances on a far more regular basis. There is a not-so-fine line between sticking to your guns and sticking your head in the sand.

Thats a good idea, but I would like to see Carter and Katie move into a neighborhood full of those section 8 houses.
Why not build a bunch of the welfare houses in Couric’s gated community?

By this nitwit’s reasoning you have to respect Hitler and Goebbels for sticking to their principles.
To: freemarket_kenshepherd
I don’t and NEVER will.
With that same idiotic line of reasoning I should “respect” Hitler for sticking to his “principles” too - LOL!

I have to admit, my reaction was similar to yours. I believe President Bush is convinced that he is sticking to his principles as he pushes the disaster of an immigration bill. He may even take the outcry from conservatives as a good sign that he does not pander to polls. Maybe the more we object, the more he feels he has to show that he cannot be swayed by popular opinion.
What was missing with Carter was good thinking and competence. I greatly fear that President Bush will prove to have the same defects in certain areas.
