however odious Carter can be, he is not the cause of the Iranian revolution. the root cause was the shah and his repressive policies, which after more than 25 years had alienated the Iranian population. it was only after the revolution started that it was taken over by the Islamist radicals.

The worst thing about our country at the time of Carter’s election victory was that the majority of voters showed up to vote for someone who had nothing to do with President Nixon. Everyone thought they knew everything there was to know about Nixon, but Jimmy Who was just a harmless peanut farmer from Plains,GA. And he seamed liked suck a nice, peaceful man. The Shah of Iran was the stabilizing force within the ME. jimmuh tried blackmailing the Shah. The Shah created a modern infrastructure (Hospitals, roads, schools for boys and girls and removing the requirement for the women to be covered up to name a few)for his people. When the Shah was deposed the ME became very unstable (Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen). It is unfortunate that we still have to deal with the mistakes of jimmuh. The Panama Canal handover was another CF. And what is amazing he still thinks that his advice is still sought after by the masses.
