Mayor Michael Bloonberg has announced that he is leaving the Republican Party, and will continue his Mayoralty as an Independent.
No sir. He will only get left wing votes.
Ever since 1981, there’s been a Bush or a Clinton in the Executive branch.
I doubt that. He would more likley pull more from Hillary than from the Republicans
Good! There are too many RINOS in the Republican party anyway. I hope the rest of them follow his lead.
There comes a point where your wealth gives you access to, and influence over, governmental officials, who you can persuade to do things to help you and hurt your competition. Once you are at that point, it is to your advantage to promote more government, as you figure that will give you more leverage over competitors who don't have the same level of access
Oh please raise my taxes, erase our borders and take my guns mr. politician metro man!!!!!
Bloomberg never was a Republican. He only changed from dem to republican when he ran for mayor and knew he would not get elected as democrat
I think he'll hurt Hillary more. He's probably going to take the NY voters away from her. They like Bloomy. Hopefully that's how it works. The NRA, GOA and all other gun groups will come out against him. He'll find out just how wrong his anti gun campaign is. He doesn't have a chance!
Could be Rudy you’re talking about.
Bloomberg Leaving GOP Move Could Signal Presidential Run
CBS) NEW YORK CBS 2 HD has learned New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is leaving the Republican party and has announced he is currently unaffiliated with a political party.
The move will clearly begin advancing rumors that the mayor is gearing towards a presidential run, which he has denied in the past.
In a statement, however, Bloomberg indicated this doesn't change his plans for his political future.
"I have filed papers with the New York City Board of Elections to change my status as a voter and register as unaffiliated with any political party. Although my plans for the future havent changed, I believe this brings my affiliation into alignment with how I have led and will continue to lead our City."
On Tuesday, Bloomberg was in California attending a conference at the University of Southern California along with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. The pair appeared on this week's cover of Time magazine.
In his statement, Bloomberg went on to discuss his progress leading New York City.
A nonpartisan approach has worked wonders in New York: weve balanced budgets, grown our economy, improved public health, reformed the school system and made the nations safest city even safer.
We have achieved real progress by overcoming the partisanship that too often puts narrow interests above the common good. As a political independent, I will continue to work with those in all political parties to find common ground, to put partisanship aside and to achieve real solutions to the challenges we face.
Any successful elected executive knows that real results are more important than partisan battles and that good ideas should take precedence over rigid adherence to any particular political ideology. Working together, theres no limit to what we can do.

Gun grabbing Liberal putz.
If Bloomie could join the party I think anyone can. I think you could be an out and out communist and still join up. The party needs to have some standards so idiots like this don’t use the party like it has been.
I personally see him having greater impact on liberals/democrats. With regard to the GOP, it’s a cleaner, more healthy, and better smelling place without him. He really sucked nickels too.
Bingo .... he's going to try to throw the race to the Democrats.
bttt
He has to know he’s thought of as a worm by most Americans!? But then again previous worms didnt.
If Bloomberg runs, he might take more Dem votes than Republican.
Now WORMS have a voice in the process!!!
“Hell hurt the Left more than the Right.”
Yes indeed.
Doesn't matter, there are lots of them here.
It's refreshing to read the opinion of someone who isn't.
