Live Earth shows aim to set new green standard (How 'bout one square per performer!)

NASHVILLE (Billboard) - It would play right into the hands of critics if the seven Live Earth concerts to be staged worldwide July 7 were to come off in an unfriendly environmental way.
And it's probably fair that no concerts in history will be more closely monitored for how well they manage power and waste.
Live Earth producers want the world to watch what they do. "We want to make the concerts themselves part of the solution," Live Earth's Yusef Robb says. "What we're working very hard to do is something that has never been done before: establish a new green event standard that Live Earth will not only follow but hopefully future live events will follow as well."

Paper cups made with recyclable paper! That’ll save the planet!
They’ll be enough hot air coming out of these pompous hypocrits to warm the earth more than anything these turkeys come up with.

I've heard overpasses in Chicago are a favored spot for the rockers.

I suppose all the performers will be driven to the site in Geo Metros rather than limos.

They’ll probably just squat and poop in their own underwear and take it home to use as fertilizer for their pot plants.

Yeah, that way you won’t be able to hear any of them! Best idea yet. I’m hoping no one tunes in. Can you imagine how these people are going to be lectured.

LOL Maybe they can buy some surplus sedan chairs from the Vatican, now that the pope has the PopeMobile. But Al Gore and Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter might have already bought them.

Most (actually: all) of the comments posted till now are rather sarcastic, if not openly hostile.
Would someone please so kind as to explain why? I am being sincere.
I understand that NO rock concert would be more environmentally-friendly than ANY rock concert. But nonetheless: Why is it worthy of ridicule to at least attempt to reduce onc’s pollutive emissions?

Why is it worthy of ridicule to at least attempt to reduce oncs pollutive emissions? The point the posters are making, albeit sarcastically, is that this fiasco will be fraught with hypocrisy.

Al Gore Junior “burned” records and savaged the lives of rock stars and music store clerks in the 1980s to “make a name” for himself in time for the 1988 Presidential election.
Now he is partnered with Madonna and the Beastie Boys. What a tool.
