‘OK, but explain why is it my (being an employer myself) responsibility to detect illegal aliens?’

To me, its no different than ensuring a ‘safe working enviroment’ which as an employer, you and I both are required by law to do.

Second, your being an American should come into play here, don’t you think?

Third, as an employer, don’t you think its better you KNOW who it is thats actually working for you?

Fourth, if you have false information, you cannot determine if you are hiring a criminal. As an employer, thats a very big concern to me for the obvious reasons.

Then consider the drain on social services, the social security fund, medical services, and the impact on your companies various insurance policies illegals are having overall.

There are many more ‘reasons’ I can name, but I think you probably get the point.

As a small business owner, its my responsibility to do everything within my power to ensure the success of our various enterprises. Ensuring I’m hiring a person that is who they claim falls under that catagory Big Time.

Just my professional opinion.

"Second, your being an American should come into play here, don’t you think?"

It does, and American who believes in limited government, now this government has just added another regulation for me and if I don't follow through I get fined.

In a year or two their will be just a few more things I have to do to make sure I follow all the regulations required to satisfy these tiny little things that you are trying to tell me is my duty as an American. 10 years from now I will probably be responsible for doing DNA scans and reporting anyone whose bioscan doesn't match up. And if you think such is far fetched look at how any new regulation on business started, just a little program that will really help people Mr. business owner and its your duty as an American to do your part. Now look at the revenue leeching BS the government business regulations have turned into:

Withholding taxes: (Biggest farce ever laid on the American Public, makes tax payers unaware how much they actually lose to Uncle Sam and the Congress critters vote buying scheme)

Unemployment Insurance: (The government takes a Hard working guys money and holds it for him till he is out of work then makes him jump through 60 kinds of hoops before He gets a dime back. If a guy Never draws it then he gets nothing back)

Social Security: (two words: Ponzi Scheme)

The Safety Regulatory agencies on business (noble Idea, biggest crock of crap ever, our local city workers have to have 3 guys to dig one hole for a sewer line, one operating the backhoe one watching the hole to make sure he don't strike something dangerous, and one watching behind the backhoe so someone doesn't run into him. 3 guys doing the work of one based on supposed safety concerns.)

Workman's compensation: (I love this one: the poor working guy must pay into this crap program, then when he gets hurt bad the first thing he has to do is hire a lawyer and got before this agency and in essence sue to get his money, then if he does get any his lawyer usually get a third. Wow I wonder who wrote those regulations? Do you think any Injury lawyers had input?)

And there is much more crap like that that all businesses in the US have to contend with wasting valuable man hours making sure all the paperwork and regulations are met. And all of them started out as just little bitty things that were presented to businesses as just a few extra things they need to be responsible for and it will really help and you will be a better American. blah Blah blah.

The bottom line is of course it helped, it helped the US Government become the biggest employer in the USA!

Now go ahead, tell me the story again about how its my duty and all. But first I would suggest drinking some more of that kool-aide.
