A true indicator will be to watch Fred Barnes and his masters at the Weakly Standard. When they finally realize that their chosen boy McPain is done , I suspect they will gravitate towards Thompson . The Weakly Standard has disdain for any candidate who isn’t what they would consider a “Hawkish Washington Insider” . McPain is one and Thompson would be the other.
