(chuckle)
I just sent her a raving e-mail.
Probably a big fan of Hugo Chavez.
You are a political baffoon! Placing your politics over the welfare of potential disaster victims. May God bless and grace the people of Broward County. They need someone.
Sorry. That was the e-mail I sent Stacy Ritter. Thanks for the address.
According to a news article I read today:
The government in Broward County, Fla., is seeking to cut ties with a local radio station because it also broadcasts Rush Limbaughs show.
Station WIOD AM-610 has been the official channel for emergency information from the county government for the past year. But the County Commission, made up of all Democrats, refused to renew the relationship on Tuesday.
Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want the county to be linked to a station "thats out of step with area politics, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. She cited talk shows hosted by conservatives Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIODs partnership with Fox News.
So, based on the above information, you, Stacy Ritter, are willing to place literally thousands of lives at stake because you don't like the messages that these two talk radio hosts air on their programs. You are willing to end the practice of using this radio station for weather warnings for hurricanes and tornadoes because of your hatred of these two men. You are a very pathetic and petty human being, Stacy Ritter. I can only hope that the voters who put you into office see this for what it really is and vote you out before you kill someone with your pettiness.

I hope you don't wonder why so many folks are absolutely disgusted with the government, and especially democrats. Yes, I said especially Democrats. You may point at President Bush's low ratings, but don't lose sight of the fact that the Democrat-controlled Congress has even lower ratings. Do you ever wonder why? how about childish, but dangerous, antics like stomping your little feet and threatening to not do a necessary public service because a radio station airs Rush Limbaugh? You call yourselves "tolerant" and "progressive", but all your real pushes are toward being intolerant and in favor of censorahip of anyone you don't agree with, especially those that expose the sick and petty truth of your sick and petty Party. I find it abhorant that such as you actually wield power over the citizens. Perhaps you should study a little history - Communism and Socialism don't work and far smarter people than you have tried to prove the proof wrong. Grow up and do what is right for a change. i know you find it scary and disgusting to do the right thing, simply because it's right, but with a little practice, you might find yourself becoming productive instead of being a petty guttersnipe. Have a great day. Bob B.
Ms. Ritter,
Would it not be advantageous to the your public at large that emergency broadcasts be aired to the largest possible audience? If political sensibilities are to be weighed in giving particular stations the responsibility of broadcasting emergency alerts and information, why not also contract with a local liberal station(s) or Air America (if their still around)? That way, you fulfill your duty of putting the citizen’s safety and well-being first and fulfill your personal political agenda of furthering your ideals. Look at it this way: 70% coverage with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, the remaining 30% spread around the other station(s). With the added benefit of not being accused of censorship. Of course, to cancel contract with the station in question only proves Rush right when he avers that in the marketplace of ideas, no one is buying what you are selling.
On a final note, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela canceled now and forever the government contract (license) with an unabashed oppositional television station. With a little more power, you could the same. Isn’t it just a pity that you and yours have only a fraction of the power he does? I imagine you drooling at the thought, for after-all, your actions are but a paler shade...
...of green.
Sincerely,
