Broward may cancel deal with radio station because it airs Rush Limbaugh
Sun-Sentinel ^ | 6/13/07 | Scott Wyman

Rush Limbaugh has long been a thorn in the side of liberals, but now, because of him, some Democratic politicians don't even want to join with a local radio station to broadcast hurricane information.

Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to Limbaugh's talk show.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. Ritter, a Democratic stalwart in the state Legislature before being elected to county office, cited talk shows hosted by Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIOD's partnership with Fox News.

The deal with WIOD would ensure that news conferences are broadcast start to finish live from the county Emergency Operations Center in Plantation. Emergency managers became concerned during hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 that radio and television stations preempted their announcements in favor of news out of Miami

The Ward Churchill situation isn’t all that different in principle. Folks here support his dismissal because they find his political views extremely objectionable.

“Liberalism is a mental disorder.”

I think a good comparison would be the young Bolsheviks who murdered millions in Russia.

Liberals just haven’t crossed that barrier yet. But they share a mindset.

Every time I decide that government can not possibly sink to a new low, some part of it jumps out to assure me that the fetid swamp of liberalism is bottomless and will never be conquered. Perhaps they could broadcast on Air America, their hurricane warnings would reach at least six listeners there.

Does anyone actually broadcast AA in Broward County?

I’d like to tell the feds not to send one dime of republican taxes to aid Broward county in an emergency. We all know the majority of fed taxes are paid by republicans.

Doesn’t the Commissionerette have a point? I mean, in addition to the one she hides with her beehive hairdo?

If Rush is “out of step with area politics” then nobody listens to him there. Thus, they need to find 500 watt daytimer that their nonogenarians huddle around to get them the news.

I’m sure Mizz Commissionerette doesn’t know anyone who listens to Rush’s station. proving her point.

To her.

The reason they can't find the Halliburton Weather Dominator (tm) is because the signal is dispersed across the country, hidden in the AM broadcast and mixed in with Rushbo's signal.

It's positively the last place the liberals would look.

Good God man, you aren't supposed to mention this in public. Did you not make it to the last "pancake breakfast" in which we discussed the secret handshakes, the influx of crack cocaine to Mexican neighborhoods, and the need to remain hush-hush about the Halliburton Weather Dominator (tm)?

I hope they don't come poking around here asking a bunch of damned questions. I have my cyanide pills ready if it comes to that. You know what the exalted leader says, "better to fall on your sword than risk exposing the operation to the infidels, that is, the liberals."

At least she's being honest, usually they come out with some BS that the station supports racism or some other bogus excuse.

An honest liberal is one that's too f****** stupid to lie, one so delusional as to believe that most people agree with them.

You mean she strolls Federal Highway North of SR-84?
No way!
Lady would starve.
But you meant “political whore” correct?
Besides the sailors off vessels at Port Everglades

A political whore, yes. Bestiality might be forgiven if one was forced to choose between this trollop and an animal.

Subject: politics and the radio

Stacy:

I just read about you wanting to cancel the emergency broadcast contract with a radio station because its politics is “out of step.” I don’t know if WIOD is the most listened to station and has the best signal, but it seems to me that those considerations should determine whether the station is chosen to handle the emergency broadcasts that can save your citizens’ lives.

If the Soviet Union ever comes back, it will be good for you. You would make a great commissar. No wonder the rest of the nation is looking at you guys as assclowns.

I was listening to WIOD yesterday when it broadcast a Thunderstorm alert. Shortly afterward, a lightening bolt put me out of commission. Details on the end of the latest DUFU edition. Hopefully I can go back online at home rather than in this annoying computer room. Will find out in about an hour.

That isn't how it works. During the storm approach and during its aftermath, all regular programming is preempted by the emergency broadcasts. So, there wouldn't be any regular programming to listen to while waiting for the emergency information broadcast.

I listened to WIOD after Wilma in 2005 and a lot of the post-storm programs were nothing but call-in shows with people saying all the boring details of what happened to them, moaning about FEMA, talking about how long the power had been out, moaning about FEMA some more, and so forth. There was very little valuable information.

Here’s some context for those of you who aren’t familiar with The Peoples’ Republic of Browardovia:

County Commission: 100% RAT
Sheriff: RAT
Assessor: RAT
Election Supervisor: RAT
Clerk of the Court: RAT
School Board: 100% (or close to it) RAT

We are also the home of impeached, removed and convicted former federal judge, race-card player and (incredibly) US Representative Alcee Hastings; failed 2000 election tamperer and county commissioner Suzanne Gunzgerger; deeply entrenched homosexual power brokers; corruption at all levels, primarily driven by developer money; and increasingly third world conditions, brought about mostly by the third worlders who live here and the politicians who pander to them.

RATs with absolute power = fascists.

Small world...we lived just south of Lauderdale and moved back to Georgia one month before Andrew hit.

We had one very nice next door neighbor that was a Florida native, but the rest were transplant jerks.

Yes we have free speach. And in Ohare if you look over in a small section near one of the ticket counters you will find a sign that says the city government has decided that this is an appropriate spot to excercise your rights as granted under the first amendment.

Apparently they haven’t designated any such spots in FL ....

LOL Wish I was joking.
