Read my post 51. (And this not directed all to you, but to everybody here)
I as a Christian do not understand where the problem lies between Evolution and Genesis, the only way I can see it would be a problem is if 1 your an Atheist and believe it is all up to chance to which I would reply the great complexity of life seems to refute and 2 your a Biblical literalist to which I would reply the Bible itself argues against literal interpretation and you have missed the point.
I add this, (Please don’t get offended) Catholics believe in the transmutation of the sacrament into the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ whereas most Protestants believe that the taking of Communion is an outward sign of an inward belief.
If you believe that Communion is not actual transmutation as the Catholics believe then how can you possibly say that you know for a fact that Genesis is the LITERAL word of God and not mans attempt to understand Gods Revelation to him.
b) God stated that God created the universe in a particular order, at a particular date, that is at odds with the Macroevolutionary model--that, along with Macroevolution being very far from a watertight hypothesis, is why so many Christians are Creationists.
I agree with you. I believe that evolution is the mechanics of intelligent design just as Darwin believed. I also believe that bringing this debate into party politics is suicide for the Republican party.
Many Americans fear the growth of an American Theocracy and this silliness reinforces those fears.
