I don’t know, the best Season Finale ever was Six Feet Under’s final episode. (Another HBO show.) Usually, though, you’re right, finales always fall short.

I think Season 2-3 has Chase talking about the "gteat economy."
Once Bush gets the presidency, Season 4, Chase makes sure to mention recession into every episode.

I have just gotten hooked the last couple of years. Did the early episodes always have these very liberal RAT political messages in them?! The parts of bashing Bush with the kids all the time, was quite annoying?!........ No, the liberal crap started pretty recently, except for a few lib comments by Meadow when she was young and stupid. The Sopranos used to be terrific... excellent storytelling, as another FReeper put it. The show really has gone downhill the past three seasons or so, IMO...

Sequel, hell, spin-offs galore.
Let’s see, we can have the sequel pick up where Phil’s henchman decides he wants more and to move in where Phil was left off...
Spin-offs of Meadow Soprano, Md, or is it JD, ...
Tony’s son ala Entourage from North Jersey.
His sister is now a widow,.. could easily spin off into an ‘ex-gang’ middle aged mom now out on her own story.
Let’s don’t forget the FBI - Homeland security spin-off possibilities, bounding from crime to crime ala Wired series, but drifting from Italian-American gangs to Mid-East-American newly emerging conflicts in inner city northeast.
We can have a new hip, Jewish, Psychoanalyst series as well.
Of course other past cast and crew of Bruce Springsteen might emerge back from the emergency room with his wn set of Freudian dreams.
I noticed Tony projecting himself into scenes as he morphed from one scene to the next. In fact the entire last episode may have been a dream, because when he awoke from sleeping in the ‘safe house’ from the last episode, he had gone to sleep on a mattress sans sheets, and awoke with sheets and pillows. Dream sequence? or merely a slip in detail between episodes?
Of course maybe its time for Carmine Jr to start with Tony’s older shrink and begin anew from a different perspective.
The Cleaver cast and crew seemed to be a real life plug for future spinoffs with Christopher, although he’s dead,..maybe he comes back with the spooky cat.

No kidding! When the tv screen went black we thought we had lost our satellite signal and were missing the big ending.

Leotardos henchman cant even walk the length of a short cell phone call without finding himself where else? in Chinatown."

I’m mad at Bush cause of the immigration bill too, but I guess I meant’’ ALL’’ the RAT messages, global warming, Gitmo, etc. It’s disgusting and I’m thinking they must have changed to some very liberal writers , cause I know it could not have been this way in the very beginning.........

When the stars of the final episodes are a monopoly hotel and a cat, the shows creative genius has become a joke. Exactly. I honestly think perhaps the writers just got sick of the show and ran out of ideas, or wanted to move onto some new project. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened in Hollyweird... The Sopranos has really been lackluster over the past 3 seasons or so, IMO.

Howdy friend.
Yes, they were COMPLETELY teasing us in the last scene.
We were pretty underwhelmed too, but I think they’re leaving the door open for a movie.
Otherwise, Chase was just thumbing his nose at us.
I think.

I’m sorry, his bringing back Christopher as a cat to torment Paulie was brilliant. :)

It looks like everyone who was sworn to secrecy about the ending, everyone who swore not to tell, violated their promise, because they all said nothing, which was actually what the ending was, nothing.
