In the only episode on Simple Life I watched, the host family sent Paris and Richie to the feed store for supplies and gave them a charge card. They bought the items that were needed, but Richie started egging on Paris to buy other stuff. They bought a fancy bird feeder that cost over $120 and then "gave" it to the woman because it was her birthday. The next day, the family discovered the extra charges and were very hurt by the prank.

Richie just laughed it off, but Paris kept apologizing. She even violated the rules and tried to get some of her own money brought in to pay for the charges. There was a bit of real remorse in her face, and she only knew to break rules and throw money at the situation. Still, there was a moment of human emotion.

I saw part of one of those shows...The girls thought someone in a bar stole the short one’s purse; and she pitched an ugly, embarrassing fit—throwing bleach around, I believe.

That was enough.

I saw the whole 1st season of The Simple Life, it’s fairly obvious that Nicole is the instigator. The funniest one, in my opinion, is when they are working at Sonic.

By the way, Nicole Richie has her own upcoming trial for a DUI.

That sounds about right. Of the two girls, Richie struck me as being far more screwed up. Or maybe I should say that her screwed-upness seemed to be much more deeply seated. In my opinion, Paris’s screwed-upness is basically a veneer - a mile wide but an inch deep.
