“Seems to me we have an opportunity as a party: yank Bush out of the Oval Office and tell all Americans “this is NOT what the GOP stands for. Bush betrayed all of us, and we fired him”.”

I wonder where Cheney stands on immigration. Anyone know?

He should be so wise as to read FR. :<)

I just caught a Cspn news conference with Kyl, Kennedy, Graham. Graham went on and on about this being ‘Bush’s’ bill, how they all met at the white house with cabinet officials for hours and days. He said they deserved all the ‘credit’.

I juar fired off another email to the White House. I change the gist each time.

The theme of this one was "Mr. President, please give it up. Don't add injury to insult."

Remember, put your main thought in the heading. Full content of emails is never read through.

But they do tally pros and cons.

As far as I can tell no one is recommending adding additional enforcement amendments to make the bill acceptable.

this further proves my thesis that all legislation is Shamnesty.

Until Bush is completed annihilated by this reactionary base, no sense of victory will be achieved.

Until Bush is completed annihilated by this reactionary base, no sense of victory will be achieved.

While I agree, I believe the entirety of them are complicit- ANY who share this globalist view. We need to do more than write... Obviously it is doing no good to protest by the normal means, as they claim we are but a noisy few and there are none to prove them wrong.

Time to RAMP IT UP- These guys need a spankin' long before election day. this crap (and the NAU to follow) need to be stomped on so severely, so painfully, that they will NEVER think to cross the line again. They have to understand how very close they are to open rebellion in the streets-

Lawful marching on every city hall in the country to nail a plank on the door with patriots' demands... We could be the spear-point of a vast turnout, as many more could march locally than could go to DC. Get the local Vets, Churches, and etc.

Or maybe a national strike- The thing DC loves best is not votes, it is MONEY. One thing we have to our advantage is that most conservatives are small business or work for small business- Most of their income comes from such as these.

Imagine what would happen if we all stayed home? I mean pick a date (like Independence Day, maybe) and just shut the whole thing off... How long before they come beggin'? Do you think the unions have power? No where near the power of the people.

I'm tellin ya, it's gonna take something B.I.G.

the people spoke through their elected representatives. I guess that isn’t good enough for El Jefe?

Clearly, the majority no longer matters.

It can be so easy to slip into a rant mode without meaning to, especially lately! :(

So true. Thanks for your understanding. Sometimes it is all I can do to keep from waxing apoplectic!

(not really, but I don't often get to use the phrase "waxing apoplectic", so I thought I'd throw that in!) :D

I don’t believe Bush can grant amnesty. He may grant a pardon, but that is interpreted as being for a specific person (for specific or general offenses). There is some question as to whether the recipient must be a U.S. citizen, but I believe the constitution is clear that anyone may receive a pardon.

I believe Bush would have to grant a pardon to specific individuals, so let’s see if he wants to start identifying illegals to pardon them. Even so, all he can do is pardon them from prosecution for entering illegally. He cannot pardon them for prospective crimes, such as staying illegally.

In sum, no president has the authority to grant amnesty. Likewise, there is no authority for continuing amnesty (or even a pardon) for future illegal conduct.
