Ah yes, the old 'unreliable' 1911. I have three 1911's: A Springfield GI 45, a Kimber Stainless Target II and a Colt Series 70 Gold Cup. Never had a hiccup out of any of them. My GI 45 is my constant home companion and that's the lowest cost gun of the lot. I must be one lucky fella...

I’ve had SIX of my own personally (mostly Springfields, two Colts), not to mention the two dozen that have been issued to my by Uncle Sugar.

Even the lightly-used Reserve 1911s weren’t nearly as reliable as the Glocks or SIGs. My P226 has over 43,000rnds through it since 1990 and it’s still a champ. I’m all outta 1911s, though.

But, hey, that’s just my personal experience.
Yours could be different.
