If TWA 800 was not shot down then why does the government prosecute someone who comes up with evidence that it may have been? For the same reason there are still 1 million classified documents on the JFK assassination still sealed.....because the REAL truth is a bitch to explain!

I saw it on one of our local (alphabet) channels. I’ve watched enough live war films to know what I was looking at and I...like you....will never be convinced otherwise.

“There are lots of such witness reports readily available from both the NTSB and the internet.”
To clarify my comment; In the MSM those eyewitness commentaries were not repeated beyond the first breaking news stories, or very soon thereafter simply weren’t broadcast.
Certainly those testimonies would have been provided the NTSB, and of course those testimonies would be repeated all over the internet.
My point is how quickly the eyewitness accounts did in fact disappear from the Mainstream News Media reporting of the event.

I had a dental patient a few years ago who was/is a 747 driver of 30+ yrs. experience- he believed, and many of his associates, that it was a missile strike-

Just for sake of argument let’s assume it was shot down, which I actually think is what occurred. If it had been reported & confirmed have you ever thought about what would have happened? It would have been worse than 9/11, a complete shutdown of the aeronautics industry. Who would fly if they knew a missile could bring another one down? At least with 9/11 they had time to prepare people & make them think security was better. This may be one of those things that was determined to disruptive for the public to know so it was kept secret.

1st point: I don’t know what happened.
2nd point: as a former firefighter, I can attest that the likelihood of the fuel:air stoichiometry being an explosive mixture in an enclosed vessel (center fuel tank) is hard to believe. Fuel tanks only explode in the movies, or rupture as a result of a BLEVE ... and then the fuel vapor explodes.
I have no opinion about the missile strike. I only ‘know’ from experience with a lot of Class B vehicle fires that an intact fuel tank is really quite non-explosive.

There’s obviouisly a collusion between the dems and the media to protect clinton’s sorry hide, but that doesn’t prove that there was a missile.
To: midnightson
he believed, ...., that it was a missile strike-...So did Al Gore, John Kerry and Geo. Stephanopoulis. I heard them say so.

1. Why would the CIA, of all agencies, prepare an animated video to help justify the fuel tank hoax.
2. Why did all FBI interrogation suddenly stop of the hundreds of witnesses who claimed to have seen the missile streak right after Jamie Gorelick (Deputy Attorney General and later member of the 9-11 Commission) came up from Washington to quietly meet with James Kahlstrom, head of the New York F.B.I. office.
3. Why did the NTSB take over the total investigation and then refuse to let any of the 736 official eyewitnesses-several of them experienced military observers--testify at either hearing, and it disallowed all discussion of explosive residue (found all over the plane) lest the FBI one day reopen the criminal case.

And the public knowledge of the terrorism would have prompted a response, and perhaps prevented 9/11, and the Aghan and Iraqi wars.
That would have been terrible, huh?

If TWA 800 was not shot down then why does the government prosecute someone who comes up with evidence that it may have been? He was convicted of stealing parts of TWA800 from the hanger where it was being assembled.

“I remember seeing a home video on the air...moments after this happened. I definitely saw a red streak going upward toward the jet...just before the explosion... and thought “Oh my gosh... that was a ground to air missile!” “
I was in Witchita that night, staying at a Holiday Inn, and there were several Boeing Engineers there too. We saw the same thing. There were also eye-witness accounts aired quoting military personnel - definitely a missle. No way that the center fuel tank blew up. I to this day believe that it was a missle.

$400,000 in contributions from the airlines to the Democratic National Committee. No way the Clintons were going to allow any investigation that would have caused the public to think air travel was unsafe or caused the airleines to have to spend millions on more secure aircraft.
My personal view is that this was an Operation Bojinka-style bombing, not a missile. One of many precursors to 9/11. We know now that al Qaeda has always been fascinated with airplanes and crippling the U.S. economy by shutting down air travel. They also learned from this bombing how much explosive power could be generated by blowing up a jumbo jet full of fuel -- enough to bring down the World Trade Center.

Mythbusters anyone?
Have the Mythbusters (Discovery Channel) tried to reproduce an explosion of various fuel / vapor ratios in an enclosed vessel; with varying degrees of ignition source?
If not, they should and perhaps independently put this to bed. Or perhaps re-raise the issue.
