This is the homestretch.
Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.
It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.
Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.
Keep bumping this to the top.
Today is the day.
I believe Texas will go the same (Hutchinson and Cornyn).
Called Chambliss local office- URGED to vote no.
Fax to Chambliss local office- JUST SAY NO!
Called to Chambliss DC office- mailbox FULL
Fax to Chambliss DC office- JUST SAY NO! (got thru on 4th try)
At a minimum their salaries should be on a national ballot. Benefits also if there was a mechanism for it.
And to you!
Too close to call, Kate. But my sense is that they are movable and they really, really want this to just go away. So our constant, polite criticism and requests are doing the trick.
The House is watching this very closely too, I might add, and very respectful of the maelstrom on the Senate side.
I’ll let all of you know when I’ve got something more concrete.

Cloture vote now scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Make those calls NOW!
Just talked to Sen. Johnny Isakson local office in Georgia, he does not know how Sen is going to vote on cloture, they are waiting for amendment process to finish to decide.
I told him that Sen I would be making a huge mistake to vote for cloture on anything resembling the present bill- we need to enforce existing laws, and stop the flow first.
Also faxed JUST SAY NO letter to Isakson DC office. His DC office is not answering— all phone lines are currently busy.
Called my Senators BTTT!
You are asking them to vote not to table debate! You urge then to fully debate all aspects of this bill. It's the American thing to do!
The more knowledgeable you sound, the more they hear you.
NOTE TO ALL: FAXES ARE VERY POTENT TOO! Write out a quick one that says something like:
Dear Senator X:
VOTE NO ON CLOTURE!
IT IS A TERRIBLE BILL.
Signed,

"The Federal Gov't has failed and has rightfully lost the TRUST of the people. How can the people trust that this time, things will be any different than 1986?
This is not about welcoming arms, this is about the security of this country and the RULE OF LAW".
He goes on to explain that the current laws on the books MUST be enforced.

Please vote “no” on cloture on S. 1348, which is nothing but a giant amnesty and foreign worker importation program that is dressed up to look like enforcement.
Please vote NO on cloture on S. 1348 - the Kennedy/Bush/Kyl amnesty proposal.
What an outstanding post. Nice formatting; probably took some work. Thanks much K-oneTexas.
Immigration bill coalition unravels

Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who was part of the “grand bargain” coalition and who has staked part of his presidential campaign on getting a bill passed, was furious Democrats who control the chamber had allowed a second chance on the amendment.
He implored senators before the vote to reject it.
“If we pass this, it kills the bill,” he said.
Thanks !! :)
Called both senate offices for PA and talked to staffers about the bill (again). Wasn’t easy getting through, but they got an earful from me.
