This is the homestretch.
Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.
It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.
Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.
Keep bumping this to the top.
Today is the day.
And yet we’re still looking for a rattier congress.
bttt
Hey, what can I do, Im only in the 3rd-most powerful position in the government. Dont blame me.
Actually, that would be the Speaker of the House
Obviously you are the wrong kind of American. They only want to hear from illegal alien Central Americans, Third Worlders and Al Qaeda members trying to do work in the US.
Call them on their Shamnesty line:
Someone always seems to pick up on it.

Yeah.... Victory... nothing at all gets done about Illegal Immigration....
Harry Reid and the Democrats now decry that this was never a Democratic bill in the first place it was the Presidents and we all know he is an idiot right?
So exactly where are we on illegal immigration... hmmm (Crickets chirping) This congress will not fix the problem, won’t even attempt anymore. In 09 with a Democrat Congress and Democrat in the WH you will get a real Amnesty bill. One that not only gives them citizenship right off the bat, hell no we’ll pay them reparations too... Mark my words the Conservatives ask an awful lot for a Party that is not in control anymore.
That’s fine with me. As long as they keep bickering, they aren’t doing anything counterproductive.
Whose 2nd then? Certainly not the VP — he has no real power at all unless the president dies.
In my view, the President is the most powerful, followed by the speaker of the house (because they can do spending, and they can pass things with a bare majority), and 3rd is the head of the senate.
As a whole, the supreme court has more power, but no one judge has very much power.
BTW, if you were thinking about the presidential succession, the senate majority leader isn’t in the list — it’s the PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE of Senate, (I think that is Robert Byrd right now).
You think too little of 40 votes in the Senate. The Rats need 60 votes to push through every little socialist idea they have for America for your scenario to happen.
Ain’t gonna happen. We will be back, stronger and more able to fight their lies.
I just got off the phone to Schmucky Schumer’s office. Let the lady know that we were watching and demand for a No vote on cloture and this Shamnesty Plus.
She said amnesty. I said no Shamnesty plus. She went into a whole line of talking points. I agreed with her.
Than all I said was what happens to the millions upon millions of illegal aliens in 24 hours?
She immediately said, “I see where you’re coming from. Thank you for calling.”
I said “Thank you. And we’re watching.”
Actually, he is pretty much right. Bush has been the one pushing this. Remember last spring when the illegals marched on our cities and shut down several streets? Bush defended their "right" to do it and pushed for "comprehensive reform".
That is exactly what this bill is. Bush loves this bill and has been lobbying for it hard. The same can be said of many GOP senators. The democrats have been luke warm about it besides Kennedy.
Right and when the Rats shove the one down your throat that they want and you look back at this one and say OMG what fools we were could have had at least something that would have denied the illegals direct citizenship rights... Then that new voting block that is secured for the Democrats for a generation or more will haunt you more.
But hey thats just MHO.
The problem is that Chambliss is a Bushbot.
Chambliss just got a GOP primary opponent. My guess a few more will jump in the race. Chambliss can easily be replaced as Max Cleland was. Piss off the base and you will end up like Pat Dewine.
Tr ent Lotts DC line has been busy all day. Propably has the system turned off.
OK so immigration was the wedge in Nov 06 that lost the Congress if it is the wedge again in 08 your probably going to have RATS with 60 votes and regardless of that what Democrat is pushing the bill that you would like to see enacted? The Conservative blew their chance to fix this problem in the 90’s with Newt at the helm.. they just didn’t get it done. Sorry but Bush did not run on this platform in 04 so holding him accountable to fix it is senseless. You will get stuck with something much worse my friend mark my words
Mike?
Whose 2nd then? Certainly not the VP he has no real power at all unless the president dies.
A heartbeat away from the most powerful position in the world and can vote to break ties in the Senate.
But looking at it as power right now, I would place the control as follows:
-President (really the most powerful position on earth)
-Chief Justice of the SC - has a lot of control over how cases are handled at the Court
-Speaker of the House
-Sec of Defence (at times of war), Sec of State and
-Attorney General (at times of peace)
Do you see the idiocy in your remarks:
“I am slightly heartened that Webb (D-VA) voted no”
Now your assumption is that he voted no because the bill has an amnesty clause in the form of guest workers right?
What if he really voted no because the bill just didn’t immediatetly afford illegals full citizenship rights that the Commie left really wants?
Tell me you believe everything the Rats say now... This is the problem with Conservatives these days.
Don’t hold your breath on that amendment. It still could be watered down by the House if the bill ever gets to a joint conference.
Personally I am watching this vote very closely. I am giving absolutely nothing to the Republican Party that could end up in the hands of these RINO’s. I will financially support whoever runs against them in the Primary Elections.
And if one day in the not too distant future when the Dems force through a bill that grants immediate citizenship (with voting rights etc) to the illegals. Securing their voting block for a generation or more... What will you say then? I guess we should have took the Amnesty light bill that the Republican President was trying to push through because well now you see we are paying reparations and social security to the 15 million new American Citizens... One day you may well look back on this bill and say OMG what were we thinking.
But hey thats just MHO
