I will never understand how the media can get away with editorializing news stories and downright lying. Isn’t there an agency or something that keeps them in check?

Of course, don’t forget how the media would have reported the “setbacks” in the Pacific - Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Tarawa, et al.

Those weren't setbacks, but they were very costly victories. But you're right, the MSM would have deemed them defeats, just like they termed the decimation of the Viet Cong and defeat of the NVA during Tet '68 a defeat for the US.

And you know, IMHO, one of the main reasons they didn't do that then, is that we were allied, although not in the Pacific Theater, with Uncle Joe Stalin, hero to many in that day's MSM, both broadcast and print.

I think today’s media would have supported the invasion, because invading Normandy helped their beloved Soviet Union.

That's the reason many, but not all, of the media of the 1940s supported it.

Their support for intervention in WW-II prior to Dec 7 was in the negative, *until* Adolf broke his treaty with Uncle Joe and attacked Mother Russian. Then they were all for intervention, Lend Lease and so forth.

“We’d be eating fishheads and rice for Thanksgiving.” ............No, potato soup and 100 grams of bread, if you were one of the lucky ones.

Allied Forces Kill Large Numbers of French Civilians And they did too. To the cheers of most Frenchmen.

The French Resistance was full of Communists, I'm sure they didn't mind potential post-war political opponents being killed if it helped their cause.

That quote is just job security. 100 Million Germans. 100 million Russian serfs with a few million more slave nationalities. Not a contest for an energetic German General.

You forgot that the Soviets had a helluva lot of Lend-Lease support. Without the additional output of the US, the Soviets would have problems.

God Bless the Greatest Generation. Only a strong war time leader should lead this nation and that is not anyone featured by the MSM or anyone in the Dem Party. That Party is invested in defeat and socialism.
