The Presidency: Burdened by a Democratic Congress that can't see beyond the next election, at least the U.S. is blessed with a president with the ability to see a better future and the courage to take risks to achieve it.
His father didn't have the vision thing, but fortunately it's one trait that didn't skip the son's generation.
Bush the younger sees a world where democracy is the wave of the future, and an ownership society where people aren't at the mercy of politicians bribing them with their own money.

Well, they did go off on Jimmy Carter in a ten-part series. Maybe this is a sort of companion.
I kinda like your attitude.
Semper Fi,
I find it extremely interesting that you are angered by Bush yet would support the nomination of a candidate (Giuliani) who is even further left. I am curious how you reconcile this.
I long for the day when G.W.Bush will be retired from the Presidency and away from the helm of this ship of state.
Then he can join the other former Presidents and earn BIG money on the speaking circuit.
He ought to be good for about $11.50 a pop.
What will you complain about then, I wonder.
Oh dont you worry.
I’m sure I ‘ll find something.
I never expect to question Bush's sanity. But the bill has lead some to wonder is Bush having a breakdown, using drugs, just plain evil, full of hate for this country, blackmailed/bribed, or in a frenzy to push the agenda of a foreign country.
I even feel a lot more toward the Clintons and it doesn’t bother me to say that even a little.
LOL, don’t forget his secret Mexican wife and secret Mexican children.
And the camps, don’t forget the camps, I hear he will put us all in camps soon.
Pack your bags!
I may be a relative “newbie” to FR! However I am longtime volunteer for GOP campaigns. I have supported both GWB’s campaigns making cold calls, handing out buttons, bumper stickers etc... outside shops & parks while getting cursed out & spit on. So don’t assume that when folks like me express disappointment about feeling betrayed!
BTW, was it not Free-republic that saved GWB’s butt with The CBS Fake Texas Guard Memo?
oh puhlease...
Feel a lot more what? Respect or animosity?
I supported George Bush up until last month. Now there’s nothing he can do to regain my trust.
What a dumb question. I detest the Clintons FYI!
It wasn’t clear, FYI.
Where was that speech from? I never read or heard that before. If I had, I doubt that I could have brought myself to vote for him.
“Reads like the eulogy for the Bush Administration.”
One can hope : )
“Let’s not forget where we were and how he lead us out of it.”
I’m grateful for that. But as for my own current and fallible opinion...
I’m afraid most of the good thoughts I have of Dubya are simply memories.
That’s a sad way to end a two-term tenure as President of a super-power.
Bush’s stance on NCLB, prescription drugs, his perplexing signature of the McCain/Feingold Free speech Suppression Act, and the whole immigration mess has definitely NOT helped the Republican Party. To be fair, the Republican Party has not done a whole lot to help it’s self...to much spending, too much waffling and cowardliness in the face of Dim-O-Rat dirty politics, and over all lack of leadership on huge issues such as Iraq, Terrorism, immigration, etc.
