“Sister’s ‘surprise’ at jihad book”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Max Hill, prosecuting, said: “I’m suggesting, I’m afraid, that although Adel is your brother and although, no doubt, any sister would hope that she knows her brother well, there were things about Adel, particularly in 2005, which you knew nothing about.”
She replied that during that year, he was studying, as she remembered him spending a lot of time in the library.
“I know him... He has passed his exams so I’m sure he must have been in the library studying.”

“Car Crashes Through D.C. Street Festival, Injures 35”
June 3, 2007 - 10:39am
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “WASHINGTON - A gray station wagon going 70 mph plowed through a street festival in Southeast D.C. Saturday evening, injuring 35 — seven seriously.
Of those seven, two were children under the age of 3. The driver of the car was not seriously injured.
The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. at 13th and W streets, at the Unifest Music and Food Festival, along Martin Luther King Avenue.
Unifest is an annual event sponsored by an Anacostia-based church.
D.C. police Chief Cathy Lanier says the woman driving the car, 30-year-old Tonya Bell of Oxon Hill, Md., had her 7- or 8-year-old child in the car with her.
She said a vehicle believed to be Bell’s was driving erratically and struck a police car and fled the scene about a half-hour before the crash at the festival.
WTOP’s Derek Williams was on the scene. “One witness tells me he saw officers hurl their motor [bikes] in front of the Volvo to finally stop it and arrest the woman.”
Among the injured are two police officers who pulled in front of the car and tried to stop it.
Witnesses say strollers were flung aside and one person was trapped under the car.”
