Thompson In
If you believe this report and we do former Sen. Fred Thompson will indeed throw his hat in the ring for president of the United States. As many readers of the GOPNation.com know, we endorsed Thompson, believing he is the best candidate at the right time to maintain the White House for the GOP. An Thompson entry would shake up the Republican primary process almost immediately and in our opinion, cause one or two GOP candidates to withdrawel from the race before the end of summer. Stay tuned.
Gingrich Getting Closer
Meanwhile, it looks like former GOP Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is getting ever closer to his own race for the presidency. In what can only be described as the must-read story of this early week, the New Yorkers Jeffrey Goldberg paints a GOP in turmoil with its leaders (including Gingrich) at each others throats over the partys losses in 2006 and dwindling chances in 2008. Expect lots of Rove bashing in this piece.
Zoellick at World Bank
President Bush is expected to name deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick to head the World Bank. Zoellick would replace the disgraced Paul Wolfowitz who resigned last week. Hmm, another Bush crony in another plum position. Yeah, that will work out.
Did you hear?
The mainstream press didnt tell you but we will: gas prices have started to fall, thanks in part to higher inventories and of course, the passage of Memorial Day. Todays average stands at 3.197/gallon down 3 cents from the high set on May 24. Dont worry, any Fourth of July increase will surely be reported as a price surge by the press, no matter how much the prices fall between now and then.
Drudge Headline of the Day
Gotta love this: I Saw The Climate Change, describing Nancy Pelosis reaction to her recent trip to Greenland. Classic liberalism.

"FRED THOMPSON IS RUNNING for the Republican presidential nomination. In a conference call Monday, Thompson addressed a group of more than 100 supporters and fundraisers whom the campaign has dubbed First Day Founders. He told them that he would be setting up an organization that will allow him to begin raising money and recruiting staff.
I Saw The Climate Change.......There’s a Joan Baez song in there somehere, just cryin’ to get out...........
IF Fred gets in, I will become a Fredneck...................
This could be interesting. I was in favor of Gingrich getting in but, with the recent stuff he’s said about Global Warming and his unnecessarily harsh comments about Rove and the Bush Administration, not so much anymore. Newt’s a brilliant guy but he seriously lacks people and campaigning skills. Anyway, Mitt and Fred in a debate? Cool! Looking forward to it!

Fred Thompson will be the next President of the United States.
We’ll see if he’s strong enough to beat Hillary’s pact with the devil to become the next president. Here’s hoping so.
I’d like nothing more than to see a Thompson/Gingrich ticket.
I agree. Fred! is going to win this thing. He will be a good President, too.
I might move to Frederick, MD....
Use this for entrance into the Cigar Bar when Fred Thompson announces for President to celebrate his candidacy! Only conservatives need attend.
I lived there for a year. Very nice place.
No way Newt runs.
Gas isn't down in Nevada.
Next world bank disaster in the making - at least this guy does have some experience at Goldman.
More proof San Fran Nan is an idiot.
It’s going to be quite the media event when he officially announces.
I might move to Frederick, MD....
I spent a night in jail there, once, in my younger, wilder days...........
He pulls this bonehead immigration move and his poll numbers go UP? I don't believe it.
