This has nothing to do with the subject of the story, but it should be noted that reporters are notorious for mistaking a "3 Shot Volley" for a "21 Gun Salute."

Isn’t it 7 soldiers firing 3 ‘rounds’ each?
3 X 7 = 21

I honestly don’t know - never served, only a Boy scout :)

A 3 shot volley by seven soldiers in dress IS a twenty-one gun salute.

For that matter the color guard does not fire the salute at all, the firing party does.

At least they did at the gazillion funerals I participated in at Arlington.
