The immigration reform debate may be shaking up the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has inched past Arizona Senator John McCain for second place in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone poll. Just two weeks ago, Romney was in fourth place among GOP hopefuls.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) remains on top with 25% support. That’s essentially unchanged from last week. In fact, Giuliani has been at 25% or 26% in the polls for four straight weeks.
This week, Giuliani is followed by Romney at 16%, McCain at 15%, and former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson at 12%. While Romney’s one-point edge over McCain is statistically insignificant, it’s worth noting that McCain had a six-point advantage over Romney just two weeks ago.

How come your posts have me thinking more of EV's agenda than anybody else's?
This particular thread is about today's Rasmussen poll. What you are posting is typical EV entirely off topic spam. If you want to start a thread discussing Romney's perfidy, go ahead. For this thread, maybe you could relate your anti-Romney spam to polls or something, to make it look at least like you are trying contribute to the discussion.
EV, you neglected to mention critical facts about the Massachusetts Climate Protection Plan which make it far from what radical environmentalist want enacted:
"Unlike the Kyoto Protocol, Romney's plan focuses on voluntary initiatives, restricting any mandatory requirements to only a few large industries and the state itself. The plan includes no enforcement mechanism for requiring attainment of the goals."[...]
In addition to rejecting more stringent proposals, Romney made a special effort to convey that he personally had doubts about alarmist global warming theory, going so far as to attach a letter to the plan's final version suggesting he remains unconvinced that man-made greenhouse gases are an environmental problem.
"Romney said he was unsure whether climate change is occurring and whether human activity is causing it," reported the May 7 Environment & Energy Daily.
Romney characterized his support of the plan as an "insurance policy" focusing on voluntary initiatives in the private sector and mandatory reductions primarily directed at state agencies themselves.
"If climate change is happening, the actions we take will help," Romney wrote. "If climate change is largely caused by human action, this will really help. If we learn decades from now that climate change isn't happening, these actions will still help our economy, our quality of life, and the quality of our environment."

Yeah, yeah. Go ahead and apply the lipstick nice and thick on that pig...
Polls, schmolls.
Conservatives decide based on conservative principles, not some phoney poll the year before an election.
Romney passed “HillaryCARE” in MA?
You’re either completely delusional or incredibly mis-informed.
Check this out!

Yeah, yeah. Go ahead and apply the lipstick nice and thick on that pig...Oink! :)
In reviewing what I have learned on this thread I'm truly amazed at the depth of your [EV's] hypocrisy and I'm struck by the irony of it.
Me too.
I agree. He deserves to be on there.
What is socialist about requiring people to buy their own health insurance via employment or privately ? I predict that his response to your and my post will be “But Romney is a socialist because gay marriage happened in MA on his watch” !!
Do you know who I'm quoting?
Well, the thread is about the Rasmussen poll. If you see no value in polls, then there is no need for you to be on this thread, is there? Good day, Sir.
Hey, EV, didn't you work on a campaign once, back in the day? Don't political professionals pay a great deal of attention to polls? If instead you advised "Polls, schmolls, stick to conservative prinicples," that might be a reason that your candidate didn't fare so well, d'ya think?
True leaders lead, they’re not led around by the nose by public opinion polls.
It was Romney who decided to be Socialist with his
Romney-HillaryCARE. It was his choice.
RomneyCARE was passed in Mass., and they will
start paying through the nose next month.
Romney made suckers of a whole state.
This kind of stuff is feel-good-ism that could betoken either co-opting the leftist agenda or caving into it... as always, the details matter.
So I found Romney’s skepticism encouraging:
“In addition to rejecting more stringent proposals, Romney made a special effort to convey that he personally had doubts about alarmist global warming theory, going so far as to attach a letter to the plan’s final version suggesting he remains unconvinced that man-made greenhouse gases are an environmental problem.

I am going to be looking at Romney’s energy policy with a close eye. This is an area where even a ‘conservative’ could get tripped up and end up giving an issue to the libs, or if he goes RINO on this issue like McCain has, ends up signing up for the bogus ‘cap-n-trade’ idea. IMHO that is even worse than a flat-out carbon tax.
As for Mass. plan, here’s another quote, worried the proposals are just camels nose under the tent ...
Marlo Lewis, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, says, “All such schemes are Trojan horses for Kyoto-type policies. Credits awarded for ‘early’ reductions are assets that mature and attain full market value only under a mandatory emissions reduction target or ‘cap.’ Consequently, every credit holder acquires an incentive to lobby for emission caps.”
The words that matter are contained in the envirowhacko plan he actually implemented, not in his cover story:
_____________________
Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement on the current environmental debate.
Saying that South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford was right on this issue, he continued:
Governor Romney opposed mandatory, Kyoto-like global warming regulations in Massachusetts, opting instead for voluntary, pro-growth measures to improve the environment and reduce carbon emissions.

Yep.
