In one ... leaked memo the AP obtained from Hillary Clinton's campaign which apparently argues for skipping the Iowa caucuses. We know it's not easy being the national frontrunner, but can any frontrunner skip an early state? As I detailed in a column a few weeks ago, skipping Iowa has proven to be a bad strategy. The last candidate to successfully do it was Bill Clinton and that's because EVERY one of his primary foes skipped Iowa due to the presence of Tom Harkin in the race. Oh, and by the way, Iowa is a swing state in the general election and voters will take skipping the caucuses personally and could punish that candidate should they happen to actually get the nomination.
From the AP report... "The memo is a sign of division among the New York senator's strategic advisers. The memo by [dep. manager] Mike Henry was described generally by two senior Clinton advisers who, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there was little chance the senator would take his advice. Harold Ickes, a top Clinton strategist, said the campaign is studying various options for dealing with the rush of nomination contests in early 2008, including bypassing Iowa, but he said the senator was determined to continue her Iowa campaign. "Every campaign games out different scenarios and this is one scenario," he said. "The campaign is moving in Iowa, is going to stay in Iowa and Mrs. Clinton is very dedicated to winning the state."

By all means, let’s hope Nillary skips Iowa.
Defeat Nillary!
Nillary?
I’ve seen her called all sorts of names but this is a first.
You know Hillary really has never had competition in a race before. It has always been contrived in some way. I am interested to see if the media is going to set her up high enough to then enjoy reporting on her fall. Which the media loves nothing more than to make hamburger out of the sacred cows they create.
Only Ciuliani cab defeat Nillary!
Oh, this is gonna get good.
Opps, sorry, nobody asks them (tough questions).
“Let’s Have a Conversation”, “Let’s Chat”...(but not in Iowa)
Hillaryous!
Excerpt of DRUDGE post up right now at site:
“WASHINGTON, May 23 Senator Hillary Rodham Clintons presidential campaign has considered and rejected a plan to stop competing in Iowa, the traditional kickoff state in the nominating process, and to concentrate instead on later states, including the 20 or so that are slated to vote on a single day in early February.
The recommendation to pull out of Iowa was in a memorandum written by Mike Henry, Mrs. Clintons deputy campaign manager. He made a case that Iowa would consume too much time and money that could be better invested elsewhere.”
FYI...
But what will Nillary do?
(*bleep*-ing mods have no sense of humor...)
Edwards will get the Dem nomination.
Nill = void of substance
No fair! Someone fixed the title.
Now some of our post look stupid.
Agreed, he's the "Dark Horse" at this point.
Edwards is a Southerner, he's a White Male so that's a significant advantage over other Democrat frontrunners.
“Edwards is a Southerner, he’s a White Male”
You forgot to post sarcasm. First off he is not a male and secondly he wouldn’t even win in NC. People here don’t trust him and regard him as a bigger ladyboy than Hillary.
Agreed, he’s the “Dark Horse” at this point.......
Minority, you surely mean “Dead Horse”.
I’m wondering if her focus on the critical issue of picking a campaign theme song is taking priority. Her spin meisters might not have had sufficient time to construct her next personality and policy points.
