I'll bet if the camera were to pan downward you'd see a pair of plaid slacks and Clarks Wallabees.

Fred Barnes: all Clark Kent, no Superman.

You know it's gotten bad when Morton Kondracke is conservative by comparison and even Mara Liarson seems rational (albeit liberal).

I've been leaning on this horn for years--a lot of the muddle-headedness on illegal immigration comes from a patronizing "noblesse oblige" from our elites.

The elite rich are different from you and me. They don't make their own beds. They don't wipe the noses (or other body parts) of their kids. They don't cook for their families (remember how Bar Bush used to boast that she never cooked?) and certainly don't mow their own lawns.

There's a reason why Bush speaks better Spanish than English. His NANNY taught him.

And they can't imagine life ever being different--but they do feel a little guilty about paying Manuela nickles and dimes to scrub their toilets. So, how do they stop feeling guilty?

Well, they decide to hand over American sovereignty to their servants!

That way, they feel noble and charitable. That's why they're always calling us bigots--because they just feel so warm and runny about their slaves. We ought to be kind and gracious to THEIR slaves, too, and stop griping that we have to pay for their social services. Shades of Scarlett O'Hara!!

They get to be noblessed, while we get to be obliged.

Amendment XVII (the Seventeenth Amendment) of the United States Constitution

....was passed by the Senate on June 12, 1911 and by the House on May 13, 1912. It was ratified on April 8, 1913 and was first put into effect for the election of 1914. It amends Article 1 Section 3 of the Constitution to provide for the direct election of Senators by the people of a state rather than their election or appointment by a state legislature, thus effectively eliminating state representation in Congress. It was passed and ratified during the Progressive Era.

Tell ya what boys..get the state legislatures to work on repealing this sucker ....and put the Senate back under the thumb of the state legislature....those boys in DC WILL perk up their ears..in the right direction.

Fred Barnes is the perfect image of an out-of-touch, country club republican. He hasn't a clue.

I was watching Brit Hume's show yesterday (Monday). Fred Barnes really looked shaken when he was talking about the immigration bill. After praising the bill on Friday, he must have gotten B*tch Slapped by reality over the weekend.

While still defending the bill, Fred was acting like a drowning man. I loved it!

What a bunch of garbage, excuses, they need excuses? How about, they are pompus, arrogant elitists who think they are far more intelligent than you and I could ever imagine to be and “we know whats good for you” mentality. Try working for a living and you’ll see how smart we really are. We may be presumed to be dumb because we’re to busy busting our humps to pay for all your stupid programs for the do-nothings that vote to keep you in office. Don’t under estimate us, eventually we will show our teeth!

You may know of Harvard professor George Borjas. He’s been critiquing immigration and its economics for years. He’s so alarmed he just started his blog. I’ll bet a student got it going for him. I like the way he calls it a shamnesty. Not very Cambridge of him

I hadn’t heard of him until now. He writes well. He must be one of the “Lonely Guys of Harvard Yard” with his POV : )
Whenever I think of Harvard Square, I think of a banana republic..........and that was 30+ years ago!

It is getting increasingly hard for me to watch Fox.

Brought to you by Wall Street, increasingly owned by foreign interests anyway.

They’re sorry-assed lawyers.

I've got a good one here in Oklahoma, Senator Tom Coburn.

Here's part of his response from my blistering email to him about this POS legislation:

In order for the bill to receive my support, it must secure our borders and enforce existing law, and it must not contain an amnesty provision of any kind. The bill must improve our visa system and prosecute those businesses which knowingly employ illegal workers. The bill must give law enforcement officials the necessary resources and authority to combat illegal immigration and deport those violating the law. The bill must not give illegal immigrants government welfare benefits of any kind, including Social Security. I will support a measure designating English as our national language, and I also believe we should reconsider the intent of the 14th Amendment regarding birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.

Let's hope he sticks to his guns.

This guy? By the way Mr. Banker, can you give us some hard numbers on foreign equity ownership in America's major stock exchanges today? How about trends?
